Warriors Head to Chico for Four-Game CCAA Series

CHICO, Calif. — Stan State heads back on the road this weekend for a four-game CCAA series at Chico State, March 27-28, at Wildcat Softball Field. The series begins Friday with a doubleheader at 1:00 p.m. and 3:00 p.m., followed by Saturday games at 12:00 p.m. and 2:00 p.m. in Chico.

Weekend Recap

Stan State won three of four games against Cal State San Bernardino last weekend at Warrior Softball Field, improving to 14-10 overall and 3-5 in CCAA play. The Warriors opened the series with a 10-8 win and followed with a 4-2 victory on Friday before splitting Saturday's doubleheader, falling 4-1 in the opener and responding with a 5-0 shutout in the finale.

Stan State totaled 28 runs in the four-game series and received strong performances throughout the lineup. Katelyn Bridgeman continued her steady offensive production, while Addie Meddings and Katrina Rodriguez delivered key at-bats in big spots. In the circle, Alexandria Himes earned FloCollege/CCAA Pitcher of the Week honors after winning both of her starts, including a complete-game shutout in the series finale.

CCAA Standings

Cal State San Marcos currently sits atop the CCAA standings at 10-2 in conference play and 28-3 overall, followed by Cal State East Bay at 6-2 in conference action and 24-4 overall. Cal State Monterey Bay is third at 7-5 in the league and 22-9 overall.

Cal Poly Humboldt is 4-4 in conference play and 13-16 overall, while Chico State and Cal State San Bernardino are both 5-7 in CCAA action. Stan State enters the weekend 3-5 in conference play and 14-10 overall. Cal State Dominguez Hills and San Francisco State are both 4-8 in conference competition.

Around the CCAA This Week

Conference play continues across the CCAA this weekend with four-game series scheduled throughout the league. Stan State travels to Chico State, while Cal State San Bernardino heads to Cal State Dominguez Hills. Cal State San Marcos visits Cal State Monterey Bay, and Cal Poly Humboldt travels to Cal State East Bay.

Most series begin Friday afternoon and continue Saturday with doubleheaders. Games throughout the conference will be streamed live on FloCollege with live stats available.

Warriors Update

Through 24 games, Stan State is batting .270 as a team with 174 hits, 106 runs scored, 24 doubles, two triples, and two home runs. The Warriors carry a .322 slugging percentage and a .346 on-base percentage entering the weekend while going 29-for-33 on stolen base attempts.

In the circle, Stan State owns a 3.44 team ERA across 165.0 innings with 82 strikeouts. Opponents are hitting .300 against Warrior pitching, and the defense has compiled a .955 fielding percentage.

Offensive Leaders

Katelyn Bridgeman leads the lineup with a .415 batting average, collecting 34 hits with seven doubles and 16 RBI while posting a .500 slugging percentage and .448 on-base percentage. Malia Babasa is hitting .352 with 25 hits, four doubles, two triples, and 11 RBI while carrying a .465 slugging percentage and .439 on-base percentage.

Moxie Barton is batting .339 with 21 hits and seven stolen bases, while Addie Meddings has driven in 15 runs and is hitting .281 with four doubles. Nat Camarena has added two home runs and 15 RBI while posting a .475 slugging percentage. Ava Montesdeoca has scored 16 runs and stolen six bases, while Katrina Rodriguez is batting .304 with 14 hits and six RBI.

Pitching Leaders

Alexandria Himes anchors the staff with a 7-3 record and a 2.67 ERA over 60.1 innings, including six complete games and two shutouts. She has struck out 30 while limiting opponents to a .252 batting average.

Alexis Camberos is 4-1 with a 2.61 ERA over 45.2 innings and has also recorded a save. Nat Camarena has logged 46.0 innings with 28 strikeouts, three wins, and a save, giving the Warriors another experienced option in the circle.

CCAA Leaders

Stan State continues to rank among the conference's top individual performers entering this weekend's series at Chico State.

At the plate, Katelyn Bridgeman ranks sixth in the CCAA in batting average at .412 and is also among the conference leaders in hits, doubles, and RBI production. Malia Babasa also sits in the top tier of CCAA hitters, ranking 23rd in batting average at .356, while contributing four doubles, two triples, and 11 RBI. Moxie Barton ranks 34th in the conference in batting average at .338 and has added eight stolen bases, while Nat Camarena is tied for 47th in batting average at .310 and has produced 16 RBI with two home runs. Katrina Rodriguez is also among the conference's top 55 hitters with a .304 average, and Addie Meddings continues to provide run production with 15 RBI.

In the circle, Alexandria Himes ranks eighth in the CCAA in ERA at 2.39 and has compiled an 7-3 record with three shutouts, 34 strikeouts, and a .243 opponent batting average. Alexis Camberos also remains one of the more effective arms in the conference, ranking among the top 10 with a 2.61 ERA while posting a 4-1 record and adding a save. Himes and Camberos give the Warriors two of the conference's top statistical pitchers as Stan State enters the weekend looking to climb the league standings.

Scouting Chico State

Chico State enters the weekend 11-13 overall and 5-7 in CCAA play. The Wildcats are batting .235 as a team with 144 hits, 30 doubles, five triples, and seven home runs while scoring 76 runs through 24 games. They carry a .335 slugging percentage and a .328 on-base percentage.

Brianna Swihart leads the Wildcats with a .333 batting average, six doubles, one home run, and 14 RBI. Aiyana Curry is hitting .293 with a .431 on-base percentage, while Kennedy Gustin is batting .292. Ali Lewis has added three doubles, two triples, and a home run while posting a .490 slugging percentage.

In the circle, Chico State owns a 3.07 team ERA and is holding opponents to a .259 batting average. Amelie Valdez leads the staff with a 6-5 record, a 2.19 ERA, and 70 strikeouts in 80.0 innings. Bella Tavares is 3-5 with a 3.41 ERA, while Kylie Loertscher has added depth in limited action.

Defensively, the Wildcats are fielding .963 as a team.

Series History vs. Chico State

Chico State holds a 40-29 advantage in the all-time series dating back to 2008. Stan State has won the last nine meetings and is 9-1 in the last 10 matchups against the Wildcats.

The Warriors swept all four games in Turlock last season, including a 1-0 extra-inning win in the most recent meeting on March 1, 2025. Stan State's current nine-game win streak in the series began on March 18, 2023.

Stan State is 20-20 at home and 9-20 on the road in the series during that stretch. The Warriors' largest margin of victory against Chico State was an 11-3 win on Feb. 22, 2014, while the smallest margin of victory was a 1-0 decision on March 1, 2025.
