Nationally Ranked Cal State East Bay Visits for Key CCAA Series

TURLOCK, Calif. — Stan State returns home this week for a key CCAA four-game series against a nationally ranked Cal State East Bay squad at Warrior Softball Field. The series begins Thursday, April 2 with a doubleheader at 1:00 p.m. and 3:00 p.m., followed by another doubleheader on Friday, April 3 at 11:00 a.m. and 1:00 p.m. The Warriors enter the weekend looking to gain ground in the conference standings against one of the top teams in the nation.

Weekend Recap
Stan State went 1-3 on the road at Chico State in its last CCAA series, recording 24 hits and scoring five runs across the four-game set. Marley Hogue led the offense, batting .571 with four hits in the series, while Moxie Barton added four hits and drove in a run. Katel Bridgeman and Malia Babasa each recorded three hits, with Babasa also scoring a run. In the circle, Alexandria Himes posted a 0.54 ERA over 13.0 innings, allowing just one earned run, while Nat Camarena earned the Warriors' lone win of the series. As a staff, Stan State held Chico State to a .260 batting average over the four games.

This Week in the CCAA
Conference play continues across the CCAA this week with a full slate of four-game series on Thursday and Friday. Stan State hosts nationally ranked Cal State East Bay in Turlock, while Cal State Dominguez Hills travels to No. 2 Cal State San Marcos. Chico State hosts San Francisco State, and Cal Poly Humboldt welcomes Cal State Monterey Bay.

All conference series follow the same format with doubleheaders scheduled for Thursday afternoon and Friday, as teams continue to battle for positioning in the CCAA standings heading into the final stretch of the regular season. Stan State has 20 games remaining on its regular season schedule.

Warriors Update
Through 28 games, Stan State is batting .262 as a team with 192 hits, 29 doubles, two triples and two home runs while scoring 106 runs. The Warriors carry a .315 slugging percentage and a .336 on-base percentage entering this weekend's CCAA series.

In the circle, Stan State owns a 3.40 team ERA with 85 strikeouts in 183.0 innings. Opponents are hitting .299 against Warrior pitching, and the defense has compiled a .953 fielding percentage.

Offensive Leaders
Katel Bridgeman continues to lead the lineup, batting .385 with 37 hits, eight doubles and 17 RBI, while also scoring a team-high 23 runs. Moxie Barton is hitting .329 with 25 hits, while Malia Babasa is batting .326 with 28 hits, 20 runs scored and 11 RBI.

Nat Camarena provides power in the middle of the order, hitting .302 with a team-high 15 RBI and two home runs, while Addie Meddings is batting .265 with 18 hits and 15 RBI.

Pitching Leaders
Alexandria Himes anchors the rotation with a 7-4 record and a 2.29 ERA over 73.1 innings, striking out 35 batters. Alexis Camberos has added a 4-2 record with a 2.80 ERA in 50.0 innings, while Nat Camarena has logged 53.2 innings with 30 strikeouts this season.

Out of the bullpen, Camberos and Camarena have each recorded one save, giving Stan State multiple late-inning options in the circle.

CCAA Leaders
Stan State ranks among the CCAA leaders in several categories this season, ranking second in strikeouts, third in opponent batting average, fourth in ERA and sacrifice hits, and fifth in hit-by-pitches, stolen bases and saves.
Individually, Addie Meddings is tied for third in hit-by-pitches, while Aaliyah Montesdeoca is tied for fifth in sacrifice hits and Marley Hogue is tied for fifth in sacrifice flies.

In the circle, Alexandria Himes ranks fifth in ERA, sixth in opponent batting average and tied for seventh in wins. Alexis Camberos is tied for seventh in saves and ranks ninth in ERA, while Nat Camarena is also tied for seventh in saves.

Streaks to Watch
Several Warriors bring active streaks into this weekend's series. Addie Meddings leads the way with a current 10-game reached base streak, while Nat Camarena has reached base in six straight games and Ava Montesdeoca in one. Marley Hogue has also reached base safely in two consecutive games.

At the plate, Camarena carries a five-game hitting streak, while Hogue has hit safely in two straight and Meddings enters the weekend with a one-game streak.  Earlier this season, Malia Babasa posted a team-best 16-game reached base streak, while Moxie Barton and Katelyn Bridgeman each recorded 10-game hitting streaks to highlight the Warriors' consistency throughout the lineup.

Multi-Hit Games
Stan State has totaled 45 multi-hit games this season, including 39 two-hit performances and six three-hit efforts. Katelyn Bridgeman leads the way with 11 multi-hit games, including four three-hit performances, while Malia Babasa has recorded eight multi-hit games.

Katrina Rodriguez, Moxie Barton and Ava Montesdeoca have each added five multi-hit games, while Addie Meddings, Madison Rosebrough and Sadie Salas have each recorded three. Marley Hogue has contributed two multi-hit games this season.

Multi-RBI Games
Nat Camarena leads the Warriors with four multi-RBI games, including one four-RBI performance and one three-RBI game. Addie Meddings has recorded three multi-RBI games, including two three-RBI efforts, while Katelyn Bridgeman has added three multi-RBI games.

Katrina Rodriguez and Malia Babasa each have two multi-RBI games, while Sadie Salas and Madison Rosebrough have each contributed one. As a team, Stan State has recorded 16 multi-RBI games this season.

Himes Earns CCAA Weekly Honors
Alexandria Himes was named the FloCollege/CCAA Softball Pitcher of the Week on March 16 after a dominant showing in the circle against Cal State San Bernardino. Himes went 2-0 with two complete games, posting a 1.00 ERA over 14.0 innings while allowing just 10 hits and two earned runs. She struck out six, walked four and held opponents to a .196 batting average during the week.

Himes opened the series with a complete-game win, allowing two runs over seven innings in a 4-2 victory, before following with a complete-game shutout in a 5-0 win, scattering four hits with four strikeouts. She also contributed defensively with multiple assists in the field during the series.

Scouting Cal State East Bay
Cal State East Bay enters the weekend ranked among the top teams in the nation with a 26-6 overall record and an 8-4 mark in CCAA play. The Pioneers are hitting .317 as a team with 279 hits, 68 doubles, eight triples and 11 home runs while scoring 166 runs. They carry a .451 slugging percentage and a .377 on-base percentage.

Jeslyn Cuellar leads the lineup with a .407 batting average, followed closely by Rylee Gomez at .402 with a team-high 14 doubles and 21 RBI. Jasmyn Morales has driven in a team-best 23 runs, while Cynthia Carrillo is hitting .361 with 18 RBI.

In the circle, Cal State East Bay owns a 2.58 team ERA and is holding opponents to a .233 batting average. Marissa Quintero leads the staff with an 18-2 record and a 1.14 ERA in 116.1 innings with 96 strikeouts. Jaidyn Gamble has added seven wins, while both Quintero and Gamble have recorded a save this season.  Defensively, the Pioneers are fielding .957 as a team and have turned 11 double plays on the year.

Series History vs. Cal State East Bay
Cal State East Bay holds a slight 37-35 advantage in the all-time series over Stan State, with the Warriors posting a 24-15 record at home and a 12-20 mark on the road. The two programs are even in CCAA play at 34-34.

Stan State enters the weekend looking to snap a two-game skid in the series, with East Bay winning seven of the last 10 meetings dating back to 2023. The Warriors' longest winning streak in the series is eight games (April 9, 2010 – March 5, 2011), while the Pioneers' longest stretch was seven games from 2011-12.

The last meeting came in March 2025 in Hayward, where the two teams split the series. Stan State's most recent win in the matchup was a 5-2 victory on March 28, 2025. The Warriors have not hosted Cal State East Bay in Turlock since the 2023 season.

The Warriors' largest margin of victory in the series was a 14-6 win on April 18, 2014, while the closest contest was a 4-3 victory on April 27, 2024.
Since the first meeting on Feb. 22, 2008, the two teams have combined for 275 runs in the series, averaging 3.82 runs per game.

CCAA Standings
Cal State San Marcos, ranked No. 2 in the nation in last week's NFCA poll, leads the CCAA standings with a 14-2 conference record and a 32-3 overall mark, riding an eight-game winning streak. Cal State East Bay, ranked No. 3 nationally, sits second at 8-4 in conference play and 26-6 overall, followed by Chico State at 8-8 in CCAA action.

Cal Poly Humboldt is 6-6 in conference play, while Cal State Monterey Bay and Cal State San Bernardino are both 7-9. Cal State Dominguez Hills enters at 6-10 in conference play with a 24-15 overall record.
Stan State is currently 4-8 in CCAA play and 15-13 overall, alongside San Francisco State, which is also 4-8 in conference action.

The top five teams will advance to the 2026 CCAA Softball Championship Tournament, scheduled for May 6–9 at Pioneer Softball Field on the campus of Cal State East Bay in Hayward. The tournament begins with a No. 4 vs. No. 5 single-elimination game on Wednesday, followed by a four-team double-elimination format running Thursday through Saturday to determine the conference champion.

Up Next
Stan State concludes its four-game series with Cal State East Bay on Friday before heading back on the road for a four-game CCAA series at San Francisco State on April 10–11.

The Warriors will then return home to host No. 25 Cal State Monterey Bay in a four-game series on April 17–18 at Warrior Softball Field, followed by a road series at Cal State Dominguez Hills on April 24–25.

Stan State wraps up the regular season at home against Cal Poly Humboldt on May 1–2, with Senior Day scheduled for Saturday, May 2 at Warrior Softball Field. The Warriors will recognize Malia Babasa, McKenna Beach and Emily Bigley as part of Senior Day festivities.
