TURLOCK, Calif. – Stan State women's tennis returns home this week for a pivotal four-match stretch at the Stan State Tennis Courts, hosting three PacWest opponents and one nonconference matchup over six days.
The homestand begins Wednesday, March 11, at 2:00 p.m. as the Warriors welcome Hawaii Pacific in conference play. Stan State will then host Illinois State on Thursday, March 12, at 1:00 p.m. in a nonconference contest. PacWest action resumes Sunday, March 15, against Dominican at 12:00 p.m., before concluding Monday, March 16, at 12:00 p.m. against Chaminade.
Stan State enters the week looking to regain momentum after a competitive stretch of matches. The Warriors opened PacWest play with a dominant 7-0 sweep of William Jessup and have since battled through several tight contests, including a 4-3 match at Fresno Pacific and multiple three-set singles battles at Menlo.
The middle and lower half of the singles lineup has provided steady production. Katrine Damkjær is coming off a straight-set win at No. 3 singles, while Emi Mikami has delivered key three-set victories at No. 6. Parker Orlando and Maiah White have also contributed important points in conference play, giving the Warriors balance throughout the lineup.
Scouting the Week Ahead
Hawaii Pacific enters Wednesday's matchup riding strong momentum after a successful Texas road trip. The Sharks earned a 6-1 win over Texas A&M Kingsville and followed with a 5-2 victory over St. Mary's University in San Antonio. HPU has shown the ability to secure the doubles point and carry that advantage into singles play.
Illinois State comes to Turlock following an impressive West Coast swing. The Redbirds defeated Pacific 4-3 in Stockton before sweeping Dominican 7-0 in San Rafael. Thursday's match provides a nonconference measuring stick against a team that has proven capable of closing out tight duals.
Dominican will visit Sunday after dropping a 7-0 decision to Pacific and falling 5-2 to Menlo in recent outings. The Penguins will be looking to rebound in PacWest play as they continue their conference schedule.
Chaminade closes the week Monday. The Silverswords opened their season in Hawai'i, falling to Hawaii Pacific, Dominican, and Hawaii Hilo. Monday's match presents another important PacWest opportunity as both programs look to secure conference points.
With four matches in six days, depth and consistency will be key. Establishing early momentum in doubles and converting tight singles sets could define the week for the Warriors as conference standings begin to take shape.
First serve Wednesday is scheduled for 2:00 p.m. in Turlock.
