Softball Hosts Cal State Monterey Bay in Four-Game CCAA Set

TURLOCK, Calif. — Stan State returns home this weekend for a four-game CCAA series against Cal State Monterey Bay at Warrior Softball Field. The series begins Friday, April 17 with a doubleheader at 3:00 p.m. and 5:00 p.m., followed by another doubleheader on Saturday, April 18 at 12:00 p.m. and 2:00 p.m. as conference play continues down the stretch.

Last Time on the Diamond

Stan State dropped both games of its most recent doubleheader at San Francisco State, falling 4-3 and 4-2 on the road. The Warriors recorded 15 hits and scored five runs across the two contests.

Katrina Rodriguez led the offense, batting .500 with two hits and an RBI, while Marley Hogue added two hits and scored a run. Katelyn Bridgeman, Addie Meddings and Madison Rosebrough each recorded two hits, with Rosebrough driving in a team-high two runs.

In the circle, Nat Camarena and Alexis Camberos each made starts, combining for eight strikeouts while allowing four earned runs over 10.2 innings. Alexandria Himes added 1.1 innings of scoreless relief.

This Week in the CCAA

Conference play continues across the CCAA this weekend with a full slate of games on Friday and Saturday. Stan State hosts Cal State Monterey Bay in Turlock, while Cal State Dominguez Hills travels to San Francisco State. Cal Poly Humboldt faces Cal State San Marcos, and Cal State East Bay takes on Cal State San Bernardino. Chico State is off this weekend.

Friday's action features doubleheaders across the conference with first pitch scheduled for 1:00 p.m. and 3:00 p.m. On Saturday, most series continue with games at 11:00 a.m. and 1:00 p.m., while Stan State hosts Cal State Monterey Bay at 12:00 p.m. and 2:00 p.m., and Cal State East Bay faces Cal State San Bernardino at 10:00 a.m. and 12:00 p.m.

Warriors Update

Through 34 games, Stan State is 16-18 overall and 5-13 in CCAA play, including a 9-5 record at home. The Warriors are batting .255 as a team with 226 hits, 33 doubles, two triples and two home runs while scoring 120 runs. They carry a .304 slugging percentage and a .332 on-base percentage entering this weekend's series.
In the circle, Stan State owns a 3.30 team ERA with 101 strikeouts in 223.0 innings. Opponents are hitting .304 against Warrior pitching, and the defense has compiled a .953 fielding percentage.

Offensive Leaders

Katelyn Bridgeman continues to lead the lineup, batting .377 with 43 hits, nine doubles and 19 RBI, while also scoring a team-high 26 runs. Malia Babasa is hitting .314 with 32 hits, 24 runs scored and 11 RBI, while Nat Camarena is batting .306 with a team-high 15 RBI and two home runs.

Moxie Barton is hitting .306 with 26 hits, while Ava Montesdeoca has added 25 hits and 19 runs scored. Addie Meddings has contributed 22 hits and 18 RBI this season.

Multi-Hit Games

Stan State has totaled 50 multi-hit games this season, including 44 two-hit performances and six three-hit efforts. Katelyn Bridgeman leads the way with 12 multi-hit games, including four three-hit performances, while Malia Babasa has recorded nine multi-hit games.  Katrina Rodriguez has added six multi-hit games, while Ava Montesdeoca and Moxie Barton have each recorded five. Addie Meddings has contributed four, while Madison Rosebrough, Sadie Salas and Marley Hogue have each added three.

Multi-RBI Games

Stan State has recorded 19 multi-RBI games this season, led by Nat Camarena, Addie Meddings and Katelyn Bridgeman with four each. Camarena's total includes a four-RBI performance and a three-RBI game, while Meddings has posted two three-RBI efforts.  Katrina Rodriguez, Malia Babasa and Madison Rosebrough have each recorded two multi-RBI games, while Sadie Salas has added one.

Streaks to Watch

Katelyn Bridgeman enters the weekend on a four-game hitting streak, while Addie Meddings carries a two-game streak. Ava Montesdeoca, Moxie Barton and Nat Camarena each bring active hitting streaks into the series.
Montesdeoca and Madison Rosebrough lead the team with active five-game reached base streaks, while Bridgeman has reached base in four straight games. Malia Babasa owns the longest reached base streak of the season at 16 games.

Pitching Leaders

Alexandria Himes anchors the rotation with an 8-4 record and a 2.00 ERA over 87.2 innings, striking out 40 batters with seven complete games and three shutouts. Alexis Camberos has added a 4-4 record with a 2.85 ERA in 59.0 innings, while Nat Camarena has logged 69.1 innings with 38 strikeouts.

Out of the bullpen, Camberos and Camarena have each recorded one save this season.

CCAA Leaders

Stan State has multiple players ranked among the CCAA's top performers this season. Malia Babasa is tied for third in the conference in sacrifice bunts with eight, while Ava Montesdeoca is tied for 10th with five. Marley Hogue also ranks tied for seventh in sacrifice flies with four, and Addie Meddings is tied for sixth in hit-by-pitches with six.

In the circle, Alexandria Himes ranks fourth in the CCAA with a 2.00 ERA and fifth in opponent batting average at .241, while also ranking among the conference leaders in innings pitched. Alexis Camberos is eighth in ERA at 2.85, and Nat Camarena ranks sixth in the conference in strikeouts looking.

NCAA Statistics

Stan State ranks among the top 30 nationally in several categories this season. Individually, Sadie Salas ranks 24th in the nation in assists per game, while Alexandria Himes ranks 37th nationally in walks allowed per seven innings and 58th in shutouts.

FloCollege/CCAA Weekly Awards

Alexandria Himes was named the FloCollege/CCAA Softball Pitcher of the Week for March 9–15 following her dominant performance against Cal State San Bernardino, highlighting one of the top individual efforts in the conference this season.

CCAA Standings

Cal State San Marcos leads the CCAA standings with a 20-4 conference record and a 38-5 overall mark, followed by Cal State East Bay at 13-7. Cal Poly Humboldt sits third at 10-8, while San Francisco State is 9-9 and Cal State San Bernardino is 8-10. Chico State is 10-14 in conference play, while Cal State Monterey Bay enters at 8-12 and Cal State Dominguez Hills is 9-15.  Stan State is currently 5-13 in CCAA play and 16-18 overall. The top five teams at the end of the regular season on May 2 will advance to the CCAA Softball Championship Tournament, scheduled for May 6–9 in Hayward.

Scouting Cal State Monterey Bay

Cal State Monterey Bay enters the weekend with a 25-16 overall record and an 8-12 mark in CCAA play. The Otters are hitting .317 as a team with 361 hits, 55 doubles, 17 triples and 32 home runs while scoring 258 runs. They carry a .480 slugging percentage and a .391 on-base percentage.

Kieley Ganaden leads the lineup, batting .375 with 42 hits, while Abreanna Alba is hitting .373 with a team-high 47 hits, seven home runs and 34 RBI. Nevaeh Martinez provides power with a team-high 11 home runs and 37 RBI, while Ellie Escalante is batting .345 with 40 hits.

In the circle, Cal State Monterey Bay owns a 3.83 team ERA and is holding opponents to a .287 batting average. Jordan Knutson leads the staff with a 9-5 record and a 3.54 ERA, while Kadence Nulick has added eight wins and two saves.

Defensively, the Otters are fielding .959 as a team.

Series History vs. Cal State Monterey Bay

Cal State Monterey Bay holds a 50-26 advantage in the all-time series over Stan State, including a 49-23 mark in CCAA play. The Warriors are 10-25 on the road and 15-25 at home in the series.
Stan State enters the weekend looking to snap a two-game skid in the series, with the Otters winning six of the last 10 meetings dating back to 2023.

The last match-up came in April 2025 in Seaside, where the Otters won three of four games. Stan State's most recent win in the series was a 7-1 victory on April 11, 2025, highlighted by McKenna Beach, who hit two home runs and drove in three runs while scoring three times in the win.

The Warriors' largest margin of victory in the series was a 16-0 win on March 14, 2014, while the closest contest was an 8-7 victory on April 13, 2024.
Since the first meeting on Feb. 4, 2006, the two teams have combined for 370 runs in the series, averaging 4.87 runs per game.

Up Next

The Warriors will then travel to Cal State Dominguez Hills for a four-game series on April 24–25 before wrapping up the regular season at home against Cal Poly Humboldt on May 1–2. Senior Day is scheduled for Saturday, May 2 at Warrior Softball Field, where the Warriors will recognize Malia Babasa, McKenna Beach and Emily Bigley.
