Softball Battles for Postseason Spot at Cal State Dominguez Hills

CARSON, Calif. — Stan State continues CCAA play on the road this weekend with a four-game series at Cal State Dominguez Hills at Toro Diamond in Carson. The series begins Friday, April 24 with a doubleheader at 1:00 p.m. and 3:00 p.m., followed by another doubleheader on Saturday, April 25 at 11:00 a.m. and 1:00 p.m.

The Warriors enter the weekend with just eight games remaining in the regular season and remain in the hunt for a postseason berth, as the top five teams will advance to the 2026 CCAA Softball Championship Tournament scheduled for May 6–9 in Hayward, Calif.

Warriors Take Three of Four from Cal State Monterey Bay
Stan State went 3-1 at home against Cal State Monterey Bay to secure a key CCAA series win. The Warriors opened with a 10-9 victory, fell 6-3 in game two, then bounced back with a 6-5 walk-off win before closing the series with an 11-5 victory.

Katelyn Bridgeman led the offense with a dominant weekend, batting .667 with eight hits, including a home run and five RBI. Nat Camarena hit .462 with six hits and a team-high seven RBI, while Marley Hogue added five hits and four RBI. Malia Babasa also contributed four hits and scored a team-high six runs in the series.

Stan State's biggest moment came in game three, when Sadie Salas delivered a two-run walk-off single to secure the 6-5 win.
In the circle, Alexis Camberos earned a win with a 1.17 ERA over 6.0 innings, while Nat Camarena went 1-1 with seven strikeouts. The Warriors' pitching staff combined for 10 strikeouts over 28.0 innings in the series win.

Moxie Barton is hitting .316 with 30 hits, while Ava Montesdeoca has added 29 hits and 21 runs scored. Addie Meddings has contributed 26 hits and 20 RBI this season.

Stan State has totaled 50 multi-hit games this season, including 44 two-hit performances and six three-hit efforts. Katelyn Bridgeman leads the way with 12 multi-hit games.

Stan State has recorded 19 multi-RBI games this season, led by Katelyn Bridgeman, Addie Meddings and Nat Camarena with four each.

Katelyn Bridgeman enters the weekend on a team-best six-game hitting streak, while Marley Hogue carries a three-game streak. Bridgeman also leads the team with a six-game reached base streak.

Alexandria Himes anchors the rotation with a 9-4 record and a 2.44 ERA over 97.2 innings, striking out 42 batters. Alexis Camberos has added a 5-4 record with a 2.69 ERA, while Nat Camarena has logged 45 strikeouts this season.

CCAA Leaders
Stan State ranks second in the conference in hit-by-pitches and sacrifice hits, third in opponent batting average, and fifth in both stolen bases and ERA.
Individually, Katelyn Bridgeman ranks fourth in batting average, Addie Meddings is tied for fourth in hit-by-pitches, and Malia Babasa is tied for second in stolen bases.

Cal State San Marcos, ranked No. 3 in the nation, leads the CCAA standings with a 24-4 conference record and a 42-5 overall mark and has already clinched a berth in the CCAA Softball Championship Tournament. Cal State East Bay, ranked No. 9 nationally, sits second at 16-8.

Cal State Dominguez Hills is 13-15, followed by Cal Poly Humboldt at 10-12. Chico State is 10-14, while Cal State San Bernardino and San Francisco State are both 9-13. Cal State Monterey Bay is 9-15.

Stan State is currently 8-14 in CCAA play and 19-19 overall, remaining in the hunt for one of the final postseason spots. The top five teams at the end of the regular season will advance to the CCAA Softball Championship Tournament, scheduled for May 6–9 in Hayward.

This Week in the CCAA
Conference play continues across the CCAA this weekend with a full slate of games on Friday and Saturday. Stan State travels to Cal State Dominguez Hills, while Chico State faces Cal Poly Humboldt in Arcata. Cal State San Bernardino takes on Cal State Monterey Bay in Seaside, and San Francisco State travels to No. 9 Cal State East Bay in Hayward.

Friday's action features doubleheaders across the conference with first pitch scheduled for 1:00 p.m. and 3:00 p.m. Saturday games are set for 11:00 a.m. and 1:00 p.m. in Carson, while most other series continue at 11:00 a.m./1:00 p.m. or noon/2:00 p.m. depending on site.

Cal State San Marcos, ranked No. 3 in the nation, is off from conference play this weekend and will face Concordia Irvine in a non-conference matchup during the week.

Scouting Cal State Dominguez Hills
Cal State Dominguez Hills enters the weekend with a 31-20 overall record and a 13-15 mark in CCAA play, including a strong 13-5 record at home. The Toros are hitting .320 as a team with 463 hits, 86 doubles, 12 triples and 19 home runs while scoring 316 runs. They carry a .435 slugging percentage and a .388 on-base percentage.

Marisa Dominguez leads the lineup with a .372 batting average and 64 hits, while Torie Au is hitting .366 with 16 doubles, five home runs and 41 RBI. Ashley Goodale has added 60 hits and 39 runs scored, and Savanna Kastigar is hitting .351 with a .479 on-base percentage.

In the circle, Cal State Dominguez Hills owns a 3.26 team ERA and is holding opponents to a .273 batting average. Ashley Ogata leads the staff with a 13-4 record and a 2.74 ERA, while Nadia Juarez has added 10 wins and a 2.45 ERA.

The last match-up came in March 2025 in Turlock, where Cal State Dominguez Hills swept the four-game series. Stan State's last win in the series was a 3-1 victory in Carson on Feb. 25, 2022.

The Warriors' largest margin of victory in the series was a 15-2 win on Feb. 11, 2017, while the closest margin was a 2-1 victory on March 7, 2020.  Since the first meeting on April 4, 2008, the two teams have combined for 256 runs in the series, averaging 3.61 runs per game.
