KANSAS CITY, Mo.--- Stan State women's soccer returned to the United Soccer Coaches NCAA Division II West Region rankings at No. 9 in the poll released Tuesday, Sept. 22. The Warriors, who were not ranked in last week's regional poll, have now been ranked ninth and 10th in the West Region at different points this season.
Stan State returns to the regional top 10 following a 2-0 opening weekend in CCAA play at Warrior Stadium. The Warriors defeated Cal State Monterey Bay 2-1 on Friday before shutting out Cal State Dominguez Hills 3-0 on Sunday. First-year head coach
Adam James' squad enters the week 3-1-2 overall, 2-0 in the CCAA and unbeaten in its last five matches.
During their five-match unbeaten streak, the Warriors have posted victories over Central Washington, Cal State Monterey Bay and Cal State Dominguez Hills while earning draws against Point Loma and Dominican. Stan State has outscored its opponents 8-2 during the streak and has recorded three shutouts through six matches this season.
Olivia Maragos leads the Stan State offense with three goals, two assists and eight points. The senior recorded her second career brace in Sunday's 3-0 victory over Cal State Dominguez Hills and added an assist for a career-high five-point performance. Both of Maragos' career braces have come against the Toros.
Aliah Avila has two goals and two assists for six points. She ranks fifth in Stan State history with 19 career assists and fifth with 58 career points. Avila is also tied for sixth with 19 career goals and tied with Jade Poon for second with 12 career game-winning goals.
Zara Mujica has played all 540 minutes in goal for the Warriors and has recorded 29 saves, an .879 save percentage, a 0.67 goals-against average and three shutouts. Mujica is tied with Amanda Leal for ninth in program history with 97 career saves and ranks eighth with nine career shutouts.
Stan State is one of five CCAA teams in the West Region top 10. No. 2 nationally Cal Poly Pomona holds the top spot in the region, followed by Cal State Los Angeles at No. 2. Cal Poly Humboldt is eighth, Stan State ninth and UC Merced 10th.
Three West Region teams are ranked in this week's national top 25. Cal Poly Pomona remains No. 2 nationally; Cal State Los Angeles moved from No. 25 to No. 14 and Seattle Pacific entered the poll at No. 23. Simon Fraser and Concordia University Irvine are receiving votes nationally.

Stan State heads to Southern California this weekend for a pair of CCAA road matches. The Warriors will face No. 14 Cal State Los Angeles on Friday, Sept. 25, at 7 p.m. at University Stadium. Cal State LA enters the match 4-1-2 overall and is ranked second in the West Region.
The Warriors then travel to San Marcos to face Cal State San Marcos on Sunday, Sept. 27, at 11 a.m. at The Cage.
