KANSAS CITY, Mo.--- Stan State women's soccer moved up one spot to No. 8 in the United Soccer Coaches NCAA Division II West Region poll released Tuesday, Sept. 29. The Warriors, who were No. 9 in last week's poll, are 4-2-2 overall and 3-1 in the CCAA heading into this weekend's conference matches against Cal State San Bernardino and Cal State East Bay.

Stan State remained in the regional top 10 after splitting a pair of CCAA road matches in Southern California last weekend. The Warriors earned a 2-1 victory at then-No. 14 Cal State Los Angeles on Friday before falling 1-0 at Cal State San Marcos on Sunday. The loss in San Marcos snapped Stan State's six-match unbeaten streak and its 3-0 start to CCAA play.

First-year head coach Adam James has guided the Warriors to nine points through their first four conference matches. Stan State enters this week tied with Cal Poly Humboldt for second in the CCAA standings, one point behind conference-leading Chico State.

Olivia Maragos leads the Warriors with four goals, two assists and 10 points through eight matches. Aliah Avila has three goals and two assists for eight points, while Kyndra Obermeyer has scored twice. Hibah Elbeshity and Franchesca Maiden have each added one goal.

Avila continues to rank among the national statistical leaders. Through matches of Sept. 27, the senior ranks second in NCAA Division II and first in the CCAA with an .833 shot accuracy, having placed 15 of her 18 attempts on goal.  As a team, Stan State ranks 10th nationally and first in the CCAA with a .593 shot accuracy and 35th nationally with an .860 save percentage.

Zara Mujica has played all 720 minutes in goal for Stan State, recording 37 saves, an .860 save percentage, a 0.75 goals-against average and three shutouts. She ranks second in the CCAA with 4.63 saves per match and fifth in both goals-against average and save percentage.

Stan State's first eight opponents have combined for a 26-22-23 record, with only Central Washington and Cal State Dominguez Hills currently holding losing records. The Warriors' results include a 2-1 road victory over then-No. 14 Cal State Los Angeles and a 1-1 road draw against Point Loma, which is No. 5 in this week's West Region poll.

West Region in the National Poll
Three teams from the West Region are ranked in this week's United Soccer Coaches NCAA Division II national top 25. Cal Poly Pomona is No. 5 nationally and remains No. 1 in the West Region. Western Washington entered the national poll at No. 17 and is ranked second in the West, while Simon Fraser moved into the national rankings at No. 23 and is third in the West.

Stan State is No. 8 in the West Region, behind No. 1 Cal Poly Pomona, No. 2 Western Washington, No. 3 Simon Fraser, No. 4 Concordia Irvine, No. 5 Point Loma, No. 6 Cal State Los Angeles and No. 7 UC Merced. Seattle Pacific and Cal State San Marcos round out the regional top 10.

NCAA Regional Rankings Ahead
The first NCAA Division II women's soccer regional rankings of the 2026 season are scheduled to be released Monday, Oct. 12. Those rankings will provide the first look at the teams under consideration for the NCAA Division II Women's Soccer Championship.
