Stan State Athletics continues its fall season with four Warrior programs in action this week. Volleyball opens CCAA play on the road, traveling to Cal Poly Humboldt on Thursday at 5 p.m. before facing Cal State Dominguez Hills on Saturday at 1 p.m. Men's soccer returns home for two matches, hosting Hawai'i Pacific on Thursday at 7 p.m. and Dominican on Saturday at 7 p.m. Women's soccer hosts Stanislaus United in a scrimmage Friday at 6:30 p.m., while the Stan State men's and women's cross country teams host the annual Kim Duyst Twilight on Saturday at River Oaks Golf Course in Ceres. The meet will also feature high school competition beginning at 5:15 p.m., with the Warrior men's 8K scheduled for 8:30 p.m. and the women's 6K at 9 p.m.

No. 12 Women's Cross Country Finishes Second at USF Invite
No. 12 nationally ranked Stan State opened its 2026 season with a second-place finish at the USF Invite on Friday in San Francisco. The Warriors, ranked second in the West Region, scored 82 points and were the top non-Division I team in the field, finishing ahead of Bay Area Division I programs California, Santa Clara, Stanford, Pacific and San Jose State. Stevie Holguin led Stan State with a sixth-place finish in 21:00.2 and was the top non-Division I finisher, followed by All-American Annie Wild in 12th (21:10.5), Kekaihulali Halpern in 15th (21:13.1), Natalie Arriaza in 24th (21:29.8) and Izzy Soto in 28th (21:39.9).

Stan State returns home to host the annual Kim Duyst Twilight on Saturday, Sept. 12, at River Oaks Golf Course in Ceres. High school competition begins at 5:15 p.m., with the Warrior women competing in the collegiate 6K at 9 p.m. Parking will be $10 per vehicle, with cash required. Spectators and participants are encouraged to carpool.

Men's Cross Country Places Seventh at USF Invite
Stan State opened its 2026 season with a seventh place finish out of 17 scoring teams at the USF Invite on Friday in San Francisco. The Warriors, ranked eighth in the West Region, totaled 208 points and finished ahead of Division I programs UC Davis, Pacific, Saint Mary's and San Jose State. Jackson Oliveira led Stan State with an 11th-place finish in 24:30.0 and was the top non-Division I runner in the field. Mason Oliveira placed 30th in 25:00.9, followed by Quentin Clarke in 62nd (25:43.6), Jace Campos in 74th (25:57.2) and Tanner Gerhart in 75th (25:57.6).

Women's Soccer Earns Pair of Draws
Stan State went unbeaten with a pair of draws last week to move to 1-1-2 overall. Aliah Avila scored her second goal of the season and 19th of her career in Thursday's 1-1 draw at Point Loma, while Zara Mujica made seven saves, including a penalty-kick stop in the 75th minute. The Warriors returned home Sunday and played Dominican to a scoreless draw, outshooting the Penguins 14-7. Mujica recorded her second shutout of the season and increased her career total to 85 saves, ranking 10th in Stan State history.

Avila is tied for sixth in program history with 19 career goals and ranks sixth with 55 career points. Stan State, unbeaten in its last three matches, will begin CCAA play Sept. 18 against Cal State Monterey Bay (4pm). and CSU Dominguez Hills Sept. 20 (11am).   Both matches will be broadcast live on FloCollege.

Men's Soccer Goes 1-0-1 During Opening Home Weekend
Stan State went 1-0-1 during its first two home matches of the season to improve to 1-2-1 overall. The No. 5 Warriors defeated Saint Martin's 3-1 in Thursday's home opener behind two goals from Alexis Cervantes and a game-winning penalty kick from Gerardo Flores. Christian Brenes assisted Cervantes' first goal, while Jose Ponce assisted his second. Stan State followed with a 1-1 draw against Simon Fraser on Saturday, with David Lozano scoring his first career goal off an Adrian Yepez corner kick. Yepez's assist was the 10th of his Warrior career, moving him into a tie for sixth on Stan State's career assists list.

The Warriors continue their six-match homestand this week with two more non-conference matches at Warrior Stadium. Stan State hosts Hawai'i Pacific on Thursday, Sept. 10, at 7 p.m. before welcoming Dominican on Saturday, Sept. 12, at 7 p.m. Both matches will be broadcast live on FloCollege.

Volleyball Opens CCAA Play on the Road
Stan State went 1-3 during a challenging weekend at the Denton Volleyfest in Texas to move to 3-4 overall. The Warriors played three consecutive five-set matches, falling to Westminster and Southern Arkansas on Friday before handing previously unbeaten Southern Nazarene (8-0) its first loss of the season with a 3-2 victory on Saturday. Stan State closed the tournament with a 3-1 loss to host Texas Woman's. Lauren Gonzales was named to the Denton Volleyfest All-Tournament Team after recording 46 kills and 55 digs over 19 sets, including three double doubles. Reagan Wilkerson finished the weekend with four consecutive double-doubles, including a career-high 43 assists in the victory over Southern Nazarene. Emily Meyer tied her career high with 14 kills in that victory, while Lauren Hamilton recorded 11 kills and hit .474.

The Warriors begin CCAA play with a pair of road matches this week. Stan State travels to Cal Poly Humboldt on Thursday, Sept. 10, for a 5 p.m. match in Arcata before facing Cal State Dominguez Hills on Saturday, Sept. 12, at 1 p.m. in Carson. Both matches will be streamed live on FloCollege.

Fall Season Tickets Available for Warrior Athletics
Season tickets for the 2026 fall season are available for Warrior Athletics home events. Family passes are $120 and include admission for two adults and up to four children, while individual season tickets are $60. Single-game tickets are $12 for adults and $7 for children ages 5-17 and seniors ages 55 and older. Stan State Athletics will be cashless for all ticket purchases during the 2026-27 academic year.
