WEATHERFORD, Okla. – SWOSU Athletic Director Todd Thurman announced Thursday that Shane Brookshire has been appointed as the Bulldog Cross Country coach for the upcoming 2014 season.
 
Brookshire, who has volunteered to help coaching the team since the end of last season, brings four years of coaching experience to the program along with five years of collegiate competition. He spent two years as an assistant high school coach in California before returning to the collegiate ranks with stints at Bemidji State and San Jose State.
 
Before entering coaching, Brookshire had a successful five-year career in cross country and track & field at Cal State Stanislaus where he helped his cross country team to a second place finish in the California Collegiate Athletic Association (CCAA) in 2007.
 
A native of Collegeville, Calif., Brookshire earned his bachelor's degree in Physical Education from Cal State Stanislaus in 2010 and he is expected to complete his master's degree in Sports Management from SWOSU later this year.
