ROHNERT PARK — A pair of solid pitching performances with plenty of offensive support resulted in a Cal State Stanislaus softball doubleheader sweep over Sonoma State, 5-0, and 3-1, on Friday in Rohnert Park.

Jessica Gaumnitz threw a two-hit shutout and struck out 11 in the opener and Jen Arnold tossed a three-hitter as the Warriors improved to 13-15 overall and 10-8 in the California Collegiate Athletic Association. Cal State Stanislaus has now won eight of its last 10 games heading into Saturday's doubleheader against Sonoma State (9-16, 1-11 CCAA).

Sarah Shamblin went 3-for-4 and Meghan Franksen had two hits with a double in the opener for the Warriors. CSUS gave Gaumnitz a 2-0 lead after the first inning and that would be all the junior ace would need. Gaumnitz (8-4) carried a no-hitter into the sixth until Brittany Simao singled with two outs. SSU also got a two-out single in the seventh inning threatened to score.

Franksen doubled in Shamblin, who later scored on a Alyssa Guzman single for the 2-0 first inning lead. Stanislaus added on three runs in the sixth for the final margin.

In the nightcap, sophomore hurler Arnold wasn't as dominant, striking out just one batter but was just as effective. She allowed just two singles and a double for the win.

Shambline again went 3-for-4, as did Alicia Reid. Britney Borba and Arnold each also had two hits in the Warriors 12-hit attack.
