TURLOCK — The Cal State Stanislaus softball team continued its dominance over Chico State as the Warriors completed the four-game weekend sweep with 5-0 and 6-5 wins on Saturday.

With the pair of victories on Saturday, the Warriors have now won 14 straight over the Wildcats including three consecutive four-game series sweeps in the last three seasons. The Warriors, winners of five straight, improved to 13-5 overall and 8-4 in the California Collegiate Athletic Association. Chico State dropped to 5-14 and 3-9.

Cal State Stanislaus jumped on Chico State early in game one today, scoring three times en route to the 5-0 win. Starting pitcher Jessica Gaumnitz gave up a single up the middle to the leadoff batter Jessie Minch, but retired the next 10 batters. Together with reliever Stacey Hains, the pair combined for the one-hit shutout. Gaumnitz tossed five innings, struck out four and walked one for the win and upped her personal record to 7-3.

Britney Borba went 2-for-3 and drove in three runs in game one to lead the Warriors' nine-hit attack. Her single in the third inning scored Jennie Arnold and Erica McIntyre to make it 5-0. Arnold had led off the frame with a single and was followed by McIntyre's double down the left-field line.

Meghan Franksen and Ashlee Genseal each also had two hits in the opener.

In game two, Chico State took a 3-0 lead in the first off starter Arnold, but the Warriors responded with three runs of their own in the bottom of the second inning with three hits, a walk and a Wildcat error.

After Chico went ahead with a single run in the third, Franksen led off the bottom half of the inning with her third home run of the year to even the count at 4-4. With two outs, McIntyre singled ahead of Borba and both runners scored on a Kimiko Wright triple off the right-field fence for a 6-4 lead.

Hains relieved Arnold in the fourth and pitched three strong innings to earn the win. She gave up just one run in the top of the seventh before Gaumnitz came in to shut the door on the Wildcats for her second save.

Borba went 2-for-3 in game two to complete a 4-for-6, four RBI day. Wright finished game two 2-for-4.

Chico State's Jenna Wermes, Rachel Failla and Rebecca Johnson each had two hits in the nightcap as the Wildcats scattered 11 hits in the loss.

Cal State Stanislaus also improved its home record to 9-1 this season. The Warriors will travel to La Jolla for a four-game set against UC San Diego starting on Friday.
