TURLOCK — Leandro Dottavio had a nice offensive day and the Cal State Stanislaus baseball team out-hit its opponents in both games. However the Warriors came up short both times as visiting Cal State Dominguez Hills swept the host.

Cal State Stanislaus rallied for five runs in the bottom of the ninth before coming up short in an 11-10 loss in game one. Then, in the second game, Cal State Dominguez Hills scored twice in the top of the 11th for a 4-2 win.

The Warriors fall to 30-20 overall and 15-18 in the California Collegiate Athletic Association while the Toros improved to 33-18 and 22-12 in the CCAA. With Chico State losing a game to Cal State Monterey Bay on Saturday, CSUDH clinches the fourth and final berth in the CCAA Championship conference tournament next weekend in Palm Springs.

Dottavio went 3-for-5 with two RBIs in game one and then went 3-for-4 in the nightcap to lead the Warriors offense. Stanislaus out-hit the Toros 25 to 21 in the doubleheader.

Trailing 11-5 heading into their final three outs in the opener, the Warriors rallied for five runs on four hits in the bottom of the ninth. After Ryan Silver lined up to second to start the inning, Jake Oketani drew a walk to start the rally.

Stanislaus would send eight batters up to the plate between the first and second outs and by the time CSUDH reliever Paul Klingsberg got the second out, the Warriors had pulled within one.

Kyle Loretelli delivered a two-run double in the inning. Dottavio and Seth Hudson both drove in runs on singles. Douglas Porras was hit by a pitch with the bases loaded to bring in a run.

With the bases still loaded, however, Klingsberg got Silver to pop-up and Oketani to strike out looking to end the game.

Dakota Watts got the loss after allowing seven runs on eight hits in seven innings of work. He dropped his record to 8-4.

In the nightcap, CSUDH took a 2-0 lead into the home half of the fourth but the Warriors would get a run back. Casey Filkins led off the fourth with a double and moved over on a grounder. Filkins then scored on an infield hit by David Contreras.

The Warriors tied the score in the bottom of the eighth, again coming off the bat of Contreras. Jacob Thelen singled to start the inning and with two outs, Dottavio delivered a single to put Thelen in scoring position. Contreras then hit a grounder to the shortstop, who committed an error to allow Thelen to score.

The game went into the extra innings and it was scoreless until the 11th when the Toros scored two unearned runs for the win.

CSUS starter Spencer Snodgrass had a solid outing, allowing just two runs on six hits in 7 1/3 innings. Eric Cendejas, who pitched the final 3 2/3 innings, suffered the loss.

The same two teams play another doubleheader on Sunday beginning at noon.
