TURLOCK — A four-run first inning was enough as Vinny Pacchetti, and the Warriors' pitching staff, limited Cal State East Bay in the4-2 win on Saturday.

Corey Conflenti belted a homer and Alex Zanini drove in two runs with a two-out single in the first to lead Cal State Stanislaus. The Warriors improved to 5-7 overall and 2-3 in the California Collegiate Athletic Association.

Pacchetti pitched six shutout innings and allowed just a second-inning double through five innings. He then got out of a jam in the sixth with two runners in scoring position with one out. The junior transfer from Novato gave up two runs with walk, a double and a wild pitch in the seventh.

Pacchetti, who improved to 2-1, finished with eight strikeouts in seven innings of work. He gave up just two runs on three hits and walked four. Chris Anklam pitched to a batter in the eighth and Eric Cendejas got the last five outs for his first save of the season.

David Contreras went 2-for-4 and drove in a run with a double in the first inning as part of the Stanislaus seven-hit tally.

Devin Grigg had two hits of East Bay's four hits. CSUEB (3-8-1, 0-5 CCAA) starter Victor Guerrero also pitched a fine game. He gave up four runs on seven hits in 7 2/3 innings with six strikeouts.

With rain and wet fields, the series schedule has changed several times. The teams will now play two games on Sunday in Turlock starting at Noon before finishing up the four-game set with the finale in Hayward at 2 p.m. on Monday.
