David Contreras went 3-for-3 and
Eric Cendejas toss seven-plus strong innings as the Cal State Stanislaus baseball team beat Cal State Monterey Bay, 5-1, to complete the series sweep.
With the sweep, the Warriors move up to a tie for fifth place in the California Collegiate Athletic Association standings as they improved to 15-14 overall and 11-9 in CCAA play.
The win is the Warriors' 14th consecutive win over the Otters. Stanislaus also increased its dominance over CSUMB now with a 19-1 all-time record.
Cal State Monterey Bay dropped to 6-27 overall and 2-22 in the CCAA.
Contreras led off the fourth with a solo homer to give the Warriors a 1-0 lead. It was his fourth home run of the season.
CSUMB finally tested Cendejas in the fifth inning with two hits, a walk and two wild pitches that ended up scoring an Otter to tie the score.
Stanislaus would regain the lead in the sixth and tagged on three more runs in the seventh for the win.
Contreras ended up with two RBIs and
Corey Conflenti drove in two scores to lead Stanislaus.
Cendejas threw 7 1/3 innings and gave up a run on six hits for the win to even his personal record to 3-3. He struck out six and walked three.
