TURLOCK -- Despite not picking up their first series sweep of the year, the Cal State Stanislaus Warriors took three out of four from front-runner and No. 25 Cal State San Bernardino after the Coyotes avoided the sweep with a 6-3 win on Sunday.
Trevor Longfellow gave up three runs on nine hits and struck out 10 in seven innings of work to lead CSU San Bernardino to 12-5 overall and 12-4 in the California Collegiate Athletic Association. CSUSB is now 8-3 on the road this season with all of its defeats here at Warrior Baseball Field.
For the Warriors, who had many chances during the finale but left 10 runners on base, they dropped to 9-10 overall and 6-6 in the CCAA.

Derek Eaton put up a great effort, matching zeros with Longfellow through four innings with an impressive start. Eaton retired the first nine batters in order and got out of a jam in the fourth before giving up a run in the fifth. He was eventually lifted in the sixth after a leadoff triple and a single that gave the Coyotes a 4-1 lead.
Longfellow got out of jams seemingly every inning except of the 1-2-3 first, but minimized Stanislaus rallies with strike outs.

In the sixth,
Vince Hungerford doubled in Graves with a shot to the left field fence and
David Contreras scored on a
Corey Conflenti single up the middle in the seventh for a couple more of Warrior runs.
Cal State San Bernardino had its big inning in the sixth when Ethan Chapman led off with a triple. He then scored on a Erik Ornelas single to center. In the inning, the Coyotes scored three runs on five hits and two Warrior errors.
Cody Madison went 3-for-4 with two runs batted in to lead CSUSB. Matthew Winn had two hits including a double.
Alex Zanini went 2-for-3 and
John Canepa had two hits with a double to lead the Warriors' 10-hit attack.
The Warriors will play a non-conference game against CCAA foe Sonoma State in Rohnert Park on Tuesday at 1 p.m. before hosting Simpson University for a single game next Saturday.
