Box Score
SAN FRANCISCO — A three-run inning was pretty much all the Warriors' needed to even-up the series as Cal State Stanislaus came from behind to beat San Francisco State, 3-2, at Maloney Field on Friday.
Game two of the scheduled doubleheader was rained out Friday afternoon and the teams will play two to complete the four-game set in Turlock on Saturday. First game at Warrior Baseball Field is at Noon.
With Friday's win, the Warriors improved to 16-15 overall and 12-10 in the California Collegiate Athletic Association. The Gators are now 16-19, 9-13 in the CCAA.
After the Gators take a 2-0 lead with runs in the first and third off Stanislaus starter
Andrew Stueve, the Warriors got even and more.
In the Stanislaus sixth,
David Contreras got the rally started with a leadoff single. Then three consecutive singles ensued after one out by
Andrew Graves,
Casey Filkins and
Vince Hungerford to score two runs to tie the game. Then a walk and a wild pitch later, a
Ross Gonsalves ground out scored Filkins as the go-ahead run.
The 3-2 score would hold up the rest of the way with
Eric Cendejas pitching 3 1/3 innings of no-hit baseball. Cendejas picked up his second save and struck out three to seal the win. He allowed just one baserunner in the ninth inning on a fielding error.
Stueve improved to 4-2 with 5 2/3 innings of work. He allowed two runs on eight hits, struck out three and walked two.
Corey Conflenti went 3-for-5 and Graves finished with three hits to lead the Warriors. Contreras, Filkins and Hungerford each had two hits as the Warriors out-hit the Gators 14-8.
