LA JOLLA — After three days of great pitching and close games, Cal State Stanislaus just couldn't keep up with UC San Diego's offense as 17th ranked Tritions beat the Warriors, 18-1, Sunday.

The UCSD win completes the four-game series sweep against the Warriors as the Tritons hand the Warriors their seventh straight loss. Cal State Stanislaus falls to 18-17 overall and 12-16 in California Collegiate Athletic Association.

Entering the year, the Warriors knew they could pitch — and they've continued to do so as it was evident during the first three games of the series. In Friday and Saturday's three games, the Warriors lost by a combined margin of four runs while the pitching staff gave up just eight runs -- six earned -- in 22-plus innings with two complete games.

However, the Warriors offense couldn't score enough runs against a quality UCSD pitching staff. Cal State Stanislaus scored four runs in those three games and just five runs in the series.

Sunday, UC San Diego (28-12, 21-11 CCAA) jumped all over Stanislaus starter Kory Wallace early and capitalized on more Warrior errors. The Tritons chased Wallace after two-plus innings and scored five runs -- four earned -- by the end of the second inning.

The Tritons went on to score 13 runs off five Warrior relievers, including nine runs in the sixth, seventh and eighth innings to blow the game open. Evan Kehoe was UCSD's big hitting, going 3-for-5 with a double, home run and drove in four runs.

Meanwhile, the Stanislaus offense managed just three hits on the day scoring a run in the sixth on a balk.

Cal State Stanislaus lost the opener, 4-2, on Friday despite another solid start by Andrew Stueve. The Warriors then lost Saturday's doubleheaders with two 2-1 scores.

UC San Diego, last year's national championship runner-up, has now won 14 straight over the Warriors.

Cal State Stanislaus looks to regroup and snap the skid by taking it out on non-conference opponent Simpon University in a four-game set Friday and Saturday at home. Friday's doubleheader starts at Noon.
