TURLOCK — The No. 18th ranked Western Oregon Wolves continue their streak against the Warriors as they took game one of the four-game series, 6-3, on Friday at Warrior Baseball Field.

Western Oregon runs its streak over Stanislaus with its 12th win in the last 13 tries as the Wolves improved to 10-4 on the season. Cal State Stanislaus falls to 2-5 but will have two chances on Saturday to avenge the defeat when these two teams hook-up again for an 11 a.m. start.

Justin Manci went 3-for-5 and Jordan Long had three hits to lead the Stanislaus offense, but the Warriors had to play catch-up baseball in a closely contested game. Craig Beevers also had two hits as part of the Warriors' 11-hit attack off a strong WOU pitching staff.

Western Oregon starter Grady Wood, who entered the game 3-0 with a 0.83 ERA, gave up 10 hits in seven innings of work but struck out eight Warriors. AJ Burke pitched the final two innings for the save.

For Cal State Stanislaus, Bryon Lemon's start lasted 5 1/3 innings. He gave up three earned runs (out of five) on four hits with three strikeouts but suffered the loss. Three other hurlers -- Joe Whitehead, Chris Short and Dustin Baisdon -- pitched in relief.

Travis Blackwell had three hits, including two doubles and Blake Miller homered to lead the Wolves.
