Game 2
CARSON —
Jordan Long and
Eli Davis launched three-run home runs as they led Cal State Stanislaus to a 7-2 game two win over Cal State Dominguez Hills to pick up a split on Thursday.
Davis, who also had two hits in team's 4-2 game one loss earlier on the day, extended his hitting streak to 11 games. The Warriors are now 10-10 overall and 7-7 California Collegiate Athletic Association. Cal State Dominguez Hills is now 6-16 and 4-14 in the CCAA. The two teams will conclude the four-game set with two nine-inning games on Friday as they work around pending rain in Southern California this weekend.
Long's three-run bomb came in the first inning of the nightcap as the Warriors jump all over CSUDH starter Devon Ramirez. Davis had reached on an error and
Colton Beatty walked just ahead of Long's at-bat. Long took Ramirez's first pitch deep to left field for a 3-0 lead.
Davis' shot came in the fourth with the Warriors already leading 4-1.
Craig Beevers singed to start the inning and
Justin Manci drew an one-out walk that set up Davis' moon-shot to center.
Long also singled in a run in the third with a single to left center, scoring Beatty who had doubled to start the inning.
That was plenty of offense for Stanislaus starter
Rafael Vasquez, who had another strong outing. This time he gave up one unearned run on five hits in 5 1/3 innings of work in the seven-inning game for the win.
Anthony Gotelli tossed the final 1 2/3 inings and gave up just one run on two hits.
In game one, the Warriors took a 2-0 lead after the third inning, but the Toros would score four unanswered runs.
Joe Medeiros went 3-for-4 while Davis and Beatty each had two hits to lead Stanislaus.
