SAN FRANCISCO —
Brittani Weatherford gave up just four hits,
Jordan Flora went 3-for-4 and
Lauren Liming went yard — that was the winning combination as Cal State Stanislaus beat San Francisco State, 5-1, to open the CCAA doubleheader on Friday.
San Francisco State got the best of the Warriors in the nightcap with a 4-1 win for the twinbill split. Cal State Stanislaus is now 12-27 overall and 5-17 in the California Collegiate Athletic Association. SF State is 8-22 and also 5-17 in the CCAA.
In game one, Liming gave the Warriors a 1-0 lead with a homer down the left field line, just hugging the foul pole. That was the only mistake by SF State starter Ali Garcia in the first three innings until the Warrior fourth. CSUS scored on a RBI grounder by
Vanessa Del Toro to make it 2-0 before busting it open in the fifth.
The Warriors use five hits, highlighted by a two-run double by Flora for a three-run inning for the 5-1 score.
Sarah Locarnini and Weatherford each went 2-for-4. In the circle, Weatherford allowed one run on four hits in the complete game. She struck out five and walked two.
In game two, SF State took a 3-0 lead against Warrior starter
Natalie Rendon by the third inning. Stanislaus got on the board with a leadoff double by Liming. She moved over to third on a flyout and scored on a sac fly by
Brittney Rickles.
Liming, who went 2-for-2 in game two, finished the day 3-for-5 with a homer and a double.
The final two games of the series was postponed due to weather. No make-up date has been set.
