TURLOCK — Eli Davis went 3-for-3 and Andy Yingling had two hits and drove in two runs as Cal State Stanislaus took game one of the series against Cal State East Bay, 6-5.

Freshman pitcher Dustin Baisdon earned his third save, his second in as many appearances, to end a late CSUEB rally as the Warriors improved to 7-8 overall and 4-5 in the California Collegiate Athletic Association.

After giving up three unearned runs in the East Bay third, the Warriors rallied back from down 3-1 to tie the score in the fourth. Yingling's first double of the game plated Davis, who doubled just ahead of him. Yingling later scored on a single to center by Joe Medeiros.

The Pioneers (7-11, 2-7 CCAA) went back ahead on a solo home run by Charlie Sharrer, who ended up 2-for-5 for the game.

Cal State Stanislaus, though, get two more runs in the sixth with a safety squeeze by DJ Arellano scoring Davis. Arellano would move to second on a Medeiros hit and scored on a Ross Gonsalves single to right to give the Warriors a 5-4 lead.

Yingling's second double of the game, in the seventh, scored Davis from first to give Stanislaus the insurance run it needed. In the Pioneer ninth, Andrew Woolfe, who had led off the inning with a walk, eventually scored on a fielder's choice to make it an one-run game.

Baisdon, who gave up a hit in the inning, used three groundouts to end the CSUEB rally and the game for his third save.

Stanislaus starter Byron Lemon gave up four runs, with only one earned run, on seven hits in six innings to get the win. Anthony Gotelli tossed two hitless innings but was charged with the ninth inning run when he walked Woolfe.

Arellano ended up with two RBIs and Medeiros was 2-for-4 as part of the Warriors' 11-hit attack.

The series now shifts to Hayward for a doubleheader on Saturday. First pitch is at 11 a.m.
