Manci leads Warriors over Art U

OAKLAND — Justin Manci had two of the team's four hits and David Snapp picked up the win in his first appearance as the Warriors beat Academy of Art, 6-5, in a non-conference game on Friday.

Manci went 2-for-4 with a double, a triple and drove in three runs to lead Cal State Stanislaus. The Warriors improved to 17-14 overall. The game was played at Laney College in Oakland with Academy of Art as the home team.

Academy of Art (3-29) scored twice in the first highlighted by two run-scoring doubles.

The Warriors picked up two runs in the third to tie the score, first on a RBI ground out by Manci that scored Ross Gonsalves. Eli Davis then scored on a wild pitch. Gonsalves would drive in another run in the fourth, plating Joe Medeiros for a 3-2 Stanislaus lead.

After AAU get two more runs in the seventh, the Warriors put up a three spot in the ninth for some cushion. Manci keyed the three-run inning with a two-run triple.

Snapp, who has not pitched prior to Friday's game, entered the game in the seventh with two outs as the team's third pitcher. He threw 1 2/3 innings and gave up just an unearned run on one hits with three strikeouts for the win.

Bryon Lemon made the start as he scattered eight hits and two runs in six innings before Keith McDaniels took over to start the seventh. Gotelli threw got the final two outs for his first save.

The Warriors and the Urban Knights will play two on Saturday back at Laney College starting at 2 p.m.
