Box Score TURLOCK --
The error bug came back to bite the Cal State Stanislaus baseball team Sunday, as five miscues led to four unearned runs in a 6-1 loss to Cal State Dominguez Hills.
The Toros (13-12, 10-10 California Collegiate Athletic Association) scored two runs in the first, third and fifth innings to build a 6-1 lead. They jumped to an early 2-0 lead after one and a 4-0 advantage after three innings, similar to Saturday's doubleheader opener. This time, however, there would be no late-inning rally by the Warriors (7-20, 4-16 CCAA).
Cal State Stanislaus built up several rallies later in the game, but couldn't get that one extra base hit to plate the runs necessary. In the sixth, they stranded runners on second and third with one out, and stranded two runners in scoring position again in the eighth with two outs. In the fourth inning they had runners on second and third with one out but only managed one run on an RBI groundout by Tynan Pedretti to make the score 4-1.
The Warriors' bullpen pitched well Sunday, only allowing one earned run in five innings of work and striking out four. Dustin Baisdon (1-4) took the loss, allowing four runs, one earned, in four innings.
Justin Charles had two hits (2-for-5) for the Warriors, and Clint Brill had a pinch-hit RBI single in the eight inning.
The Warriors travel to No. 10 Chico State next week for a four-game CCAA series beginning Friday at 6 p.m.
