Box Score CHICO — It took No. 13 Chico State until the bottom of the eighth to get ahead for good as the Wildcats opened the four-game series with a 6-3 win over Cal State Stanislaus.
The Warriors scattered 10 hits against the highly ranked Wildcats and tied the game at 3-3 in the eighth inning before Chico State scored three times in the bottom of the eighth.

Matt Chaidez each had two hits to lead Cal State Stanislaus (7-21, 4-17 CCAA). All three Warriors each drove in a run as the Warriors scored single runs in the third, seventh and eighth innings.
Michael York got the Friday night start on the mound for Stanislaus and put up a nice effort with six innings of work. He gave up three runs on seven hits, struck four and walked one.
Jeremy McDonald and
Joe Whitehead pitched the final two innings with McDonald getting tagged with the loss.
Chico State, ranked 13th in the latest Collegiate Baseball poll, improved to 16-5 overall and 9-4 in CCAA play. Pierson Jeremiah went 3-for-4 with a double, a triple and drove in two runs to lead the Wildcats. Jon Peters led off the eighth with a homer to break the 3-3 tie and Chico added on two more runs in the frame for the final count.
The teams will play two on Saturday at Nettleton Stadium starting at Noon.
