Ferreria had big day against Sonoma State

4/14/2013 5:29:00 PM

Box Score 1 | Box Score 2 ROHNERT PARK — Skippy Ferreria supplied much of the Cal State Stanislaus offense on Sunday before the Warriors dropped both ends of the doubleheader at Sonoma State, 10-1 and 5-2.

The Warriors had plently of offense against the solid Sonoma State pitching but runs were hard to come by in losing the series. Cal State Stanislaus had 10 hits in the opener but scored just one run after leading 13 runners on base. Then, the Warriors stranded 10 runners on base in the nightcap when they had eight hits.

Sonoma State won the series three games to one and improved to 24-14 overall and 16-12 in the California Collegiate Athletic Association. The Warriors are now 8-13, 5-27.

Ferreria had six of the team's 18 hits on the day, going 3-for-4 in each game — all singles to different parts of the field. It was Ferreria first career three-hit game and he did it twice in one day.

Craig Beevers, Clint Brill and James Heller each had two hits in the first game.

Rafael Vasquez and Andrew Graham suffered the losses on the mound for Stanislaus.

Devon Zenn led the Seawolves going 3-for-5 with a three-run homer in the eighth inning of game one. Sam Montgomery had four hits on the day for Sonoma State.
