Box Score OAKLAND — Danny Molieri converted on his first save opportunity in 15 games as Cal State Stanislaus held on to win on the road over Academy of Art, 5-4, at Laney College late Friday night.

The non-conference victory marks the Warriors' first since early in the season as Stanislaus improved to 4-4 in games against non-California Collegiate Athletic Association team. The victory was also Byron Lemon's second in as many starts after the ace threw a complete-game shutout over Sonoma State a week ago.

Friday night, under the lights in the East Bay, Matt Chaidez led the way with three hits, including a double and two runs batted in as part of the Warriors' 11-hit parade. Chaidez singled to center drove in two runs as part of the Warriors' three-run sixth that tied the game at 4-4.

Academy of Art (5-35) had scored a pair of runs in the fourth and fifth innings to take a 4-1 lead.

The Warriors (9-31) then scored the go-ahead run in the eighth on a Justin Charles single that plated Anthony Nicolosi, who was running for James Heller. Heller had led-off the inning with a single through the left side.

Molieri, the Warriors' third pitcher on the night, pitched the ninth with the Urban Knights putting runners on second and third with two outs on fielder's choice grounders. Molieri struck out the final batter to end the game to earn his fourth save of the year.

Lemon threw seven innings, allowed four runs on eight hits and struck out six to pick up the win. It was the Warriors' first save opportunity since March 16 against Cal State Dominguez Hills.

Charles ended up with a 2-for-3, 2 RBI game and Andrew Graves also had two hits.

The teams will meet again on Sunday for a doubleheader at 1 p.m. at Laney College.
