Box Score SAN BERNARDINO — The Warriors lost a slugfest to start the day, then dropped a tight contest in the afternoon to dropped both ends of a CCAA doubleheader at Cal State San Bernardino on Saturday.
In a game that featured 28 hits and 17 runs, Cal State Stanislaus came up on the short end of it in a 13-4 game one. In the nightcap,
Matt Chaidez had two of the team's five hits in a 3-2 decision.
The first four batters in the Stanislaus line up combined to go 7-for-18 in the first game.
Skippy Ferreria,
Craig Beevers and
Ross Gonsalves each had two hits. But CSUSB led 7-0 by the end of the third inning. Curtis Cassise went 5-for-6 with four RBIs including a homer to lead the Coyotes (19-28, 13-26 CCAA).
In game two, after the Warriors tied the game at 2-2 in the fifth, CSUSB responded with the go-ahead run in the home half of that inning and held on.
Rafael Vasquez and
Joe Whitehead, who started game two, were tagged with losses on the mound.
So far in the series,
Justin Charles, Ferreria and Beevers are all batting in the .400's and Chaidez is 3-for-8. The Warriors have also belted five homeruns this weekend.
The season finale is Sunday at 11 a.m. at Fiscalini Field.
