Softball picks up split at San Francisco State

Box Score 1 | Box Score 2 SAN FRANCISCO — Natalie Rendon turned in another great start in the circle and the Warriors hit five doubles as they pick up a CCAA split at San Francisco State Saturday.

The Warriors won game two, 5-0, behind Rendon's performance after falling game one to the Gators, 7-2. The Warriors are now 8-11 overall and 4-6 in the California Collegiate Athletic Association.

Rendon threw her second complete game this week with a seven-inning, five-hit shutout performance against SF State (8-11, 4-6 CCAA). She struckout two and walked just one to improve to 4-4. She earned a win in Tuesday's win over Notre Dame de Namur.

On the offensive side, the Warriors pounded out five doubles in the game. Brittney Rickles went 2-for-3 with a pair of doubles while Amy Droege, Brianna Nicholson and Kristan Burns all doubled as well. Burns drove in two runs with her double in the Stanislaus four-run fifth inning. Rickles had one of her RBI doubles in the same inning.

Natalie Winters also went 2-for-3 in the game and Amy Droege was 2-for-3.

In game one, SF State scored in the second through fourth innings to take a 7-0 lead. The middle of the Gator lineup, 3 through 6, went a combined 8-for-13, scored five times and drove in three runs.

Cassidy Duke and Nicholson each doubled in the game.

The two teams will play another doubleheader on Sunday at 11 a.m. to complete the four-game series.
