Box Score 2 TURLOCK — The Warriors scored three runs in the bottom of the sixth inning of the nightcap as they split with Cal State San Bernardino by winning game two, 8-6, on Saturday.
Cal State Stanislaus lost game one 8-2 with the rubber game of the series on Sunday. The doubleheader split means the Warriors are now 7-14 overall and 3-11 in the California Collegiate Athletic Association.
Cal State San Bernardino improved to 8-16 and 6-9 in conference play.
The final game on Sunday is scheduled for a Noon start at Warrior Baseball Field.
In Saturday's game two, the Warriors rallied for three runs to overcome a 6-5 deficit for the 8-6 win. Nick Ippoliton scored on a wild pitch while
Clint Brill and
Dayton Mellor both singled in runs for the three-run sixth innings.
Skippy Ferrerria continues to be the hottest Warrior on offense. The leadoff batter has an 11-game hitting streak as he's 22 for 45(.489 average) with six doubles and 10 runs scored during this streak.
Ferrerria has gone 3-for-4 in all three games in this series and is 9 for his 12 at bats against the Coyotes this weekend.
Mellor also had three hits and drove in three runs in the Saturday nightcap. Ippolito, who started a shortstop and stepped on to the mound in relief in the sixth, threw two hitless innings to pick up his first collegiate victory as a pitcher.
