Box Score 2 TURLOCK — The Warriors were just three outs away from snapping a long streak against No. 11 Chico State. Instead, frustrations continue for Cal State Stanislaus as the Wildcats rallied to take both ends of the doubleheader on Saturday.
Chico State scored four runs to over-take the game in the opener to win 6-3. The Wildcats never stop hitting and sprayed 15 hits to win game two 11-0 for the sweep. Chico State, winner of five straight and 13 of its last 15 games, improved to 19-5 overall and 11-4 in the California Collegiate Athletic Association.
The Warriors dropped to 8-17, 4-14 CCAA and will have to count on sophomore southpaw
Jeremy McDonald on Sunday to avoid the sweep.
Chico State has now won nine straight games in the head to head series.
Behind a strong start by freshman hurler
Nick Voumard, the Warriors took a 3-2 lead into the ninth inning by scoring twice in the seventh. But the Stanislaus bullpen wasn't able to close out the game.
Chico State put together four of its eight hits in the game in the ninth inning to score four times to go-ahead. Luke Barker recorded his seventh save with a 1-2-3 ninth to turn the tide.
In the nightcap, the Wildcats got our early against
