Box Score 1 | Box Score 2 TURLOCK — Pitchers Karina Callazo and Jessica Varady combined to completely shut-down the potent Cal State San Bernardino offense in the first game on Saturday as the duo combined for a two-hit, 4-0, shutout.

Cal State San Bernardino's Stephanie Luhman returned the favor and threw an one-hit shutout of her own in the series finale as the teams split the twinbill on the day. The Coyotes won game two, 5-0, to improve to 14-9 overall and 8-6 in the California Collegiate Athletic Association.

In the opener, Callazo made the start and did not allow a hit in five innings. After walking two batters in the first inning, the second with two outs, she retired 12 straight and allowed just one baserunner due to a Stanislaus throwing error.

Callazo, who earned her first collegiate win for her effort, handed over to Jessica Varady for the final two innings. Varady gave up two harmless singles with two outs in each inning to pick up the save.

The pitching performance was extra impressive since CSUSB entered the game with the second best team batting average in the CCAA at .343.

Offensively, the Warriors (9-14, 5-9 CCAA) clinged on to a 1-0 lead into the sixth. Just when some insurance runs were needed, the team responded. Kristan Burns tripled in a score and later scored on a Amy Droege single up the middle. Droege would eventually score on a Brianna Nicholson double to make it 4-0.

Cassandra Williams, who struck out 10 on Friday, fanned two Warriors in the first game and was tagged with the loss.

Deenah San Luis collected three hits, including a double, in game one and Cassidy Duke went 2-for-3 with a double.

In game two, Brittney Rickles had a single with one out in the first to account for the only hit by the Warriors. After getting out of the first inning, Luhman retired the Warriors in order the rest of the way and faced just one batter over the minimum for the contest.

Thalie Ortiz drove in three runs with a double to lead CSUSB, which had five hits in the game.
