4/17/2014 7:41:00 PM

Box Score POMONA — Playing in their fifth straight game against a nationally ranked team, the Cal State Stanislaus baseball team struggled on offense and was blanked by No. 12 Cal Poly Pomona on Thursday.

Broncos ace Steven Farnworth gave up five hits in eight innings as Cal Poly Pomona defeated the Warriors, 10-0, to open the four-game series at Scolinos Field.

The Warriors have lost eight straight and fell to 11-26 oerall and 5-23 in the California Collegiate Athletic Association. Last week the Warriors faced No. 24 UC San Diego.

Dustin Baisdon made his first start this season but allowed 10 hits in 5 1/3 innings. Only five of the five runs he yielded were earned.

Cal Poly Pomona (27-10, 20-9 CCAA) scored five runs in the seventh to put the game away. Chris Carlson and Bo Walter each had three hits to lead the Broncos' 17-hit attack.

Colton Beatty had two of the Warriors' five hits — all singles. The only inning the Warriors managed to have multiple hits was the first inning with singles by Beatty and Marcus Mastrobuoni. Stanislaus had two baserunners on the bags just one other time in the third thanks to a Pomona error.

Beatty has hit safely in eight consecutive games where he's 13 for 29. He now leads the team with a .388 batting average.
