Warriors go deep but lost twice at Cal State East Bay

Box Score 1 | Box Score 2 HAYWARD — The Warriors went yard three times but Cal State State Bay won both games of the doubleheader to even the four-game series on Saturday.

Melissa Robles homered in game one in Cal State Stanislaus' 10-3 loss. In game two, Kristan Burns belted two homeruns and Brianna Nicholson hit a solo shot but the Pioneers won 9-7.

Cal State East Bay also hit three home runs in the doubleheader to improve to 24-25 overall and 15-17 in the California Collegiate Athletic Association. The Warriors fell to 15-36 and 8-24.

Robles' homer was a three-run shot in the third inning that gave the Warriors a 3-2 lead at the time but CSUEB scored three more runs in the bottom of the third to pull back ahead and did not looked back. Chelsie Kakela homered in the first for two runs and drove in two more runs in the fourth with a double.

Emily Perlich went the distance and won both games for Cal State East Bay.

In the series finale, Burns is poised to go out with a bang as the senior homered twice off Perlich. Her 2-run homer to right-center gave Stanislaus a 2-0 lead. With the score at 3-2 in favor of the Pioneers, Burns would follow Nicholson with back-to-back solo homers to put the Warriors back up 4-3.

Nicholson leads the team with four homers and Burns has three. Burns had a great four-game set against Cal State East Bay going 6-for-14 with two doubles, two homeruns and drove in eight runs. She capped the weekend with a 3-for-4, 3 RBI, two homer game.

Cal State Stanislaus wraps up the season next weekend at home against Humboldt State.
