4/27/2014 5:17:00 PM

Box Score 1 | Box Score 2 ROHNERT PARK — Skippy Ferreria stayed hot as he and Marcus Mastrobuoni each had three hits in the doubleheader but the Warriors lost a pair of close games to Sonoma State on Sunday.

Sonoma State again scored late in game one to captured the 6-3 win while the Warriors had the tying run in scoring position before losing the nightcap, 3-2. The Seawolves managed to take all four games in the series in two days to improve to 25-12 overall and 22-6 in California Collegiate Athletic Association play.

For the Warriors, they saw their records dipped to 12-32, 6-29 in the CCAA with one final weekend remaining in the season. Cal State Stanislaus and Cal State Monterey Bay will play the 1-2-1 series next weekend with the Warriors hosting the Friday and Sunday games. Teams will play two in Seaside on Saturday, weather permitting.

Sunday's games were supposed to be played in Rohnert Park on Friday but rain forced these two games to be postponed until today.

Ferreria went 2-for-5 in game one and had a single in the sixth in game two to extend his hitting streak to 11 games, three shy of tying his season high. Ferreria has hit safely in 32 of the last 34 games and has only gone hitless in a game six times this season.

A three-run double by Dallas Seidel keyed the SSU sixth inning that made the game 4-2. Sonoma State would go on to score a run in the eighth and ninth innings to win the opener on the day. Dustin Baisdon suffered the loss and Donnie Fairchilds threw three relief innings.

In game two, trailing 3-1, the Warriors hoped to return the favor with their own late rally. Stanislaus made it 3-2 in the eighth inning by plating a run without a hit. A hit-by-pitch, two walks and a fielder's choice resulted in Stevie Robinson scoring the run.

With two outs in the ninth, Brill singled to keep the team alive and pinch runner Anthony Nicolosi stole second to get into scoring position. However, SSU closer Devin Alexander got a grounder to short to end the game.

Nick Ippolito gave up three runs on seven hits in six innings of work. His trouble came in the fourth when the Seawolves had four hits, including two doubles, to score twice to take a 3-0 lead. Martin Gomez threw the final two innings and gave up just one hit.

Mastrobuoni went 1-for-5 in game one and was 2-for-4 with two runs batted in in game two. He still leads the CCAA in batting with a .385 average on the season.
