Dustin Baisdon has had a great 2014 out of the bullpen for the Warriors. However, Cal State Dominguez Hills spoiled a solid outing by the hurler as the Toros utilized a leadoff walk to win in walk-off fashion on Sunday.
Alex Sixtos walked to start the bottom of the ninth and Danny Haley's single down the left field line scored Sixtos as the Toros win 3-2 to take the series three games to one.
All four games in this series between Cal State Stanislaus (11-21, 6-17 CCAA) and Cal State Dominguez Hills (17-15, 12-12 CCAA) were decided by three runs or less. Sunday's 3-2 decision was the second one-run game in the series. The Warriors beat the Toros 3-2 on Friday.
The Warriors had scored runs in each of the eighth and ninth innings to tie the game at 3-3.
Tanner Negrette doubled in
Colt McLaughlin in the eighth and
Skippy Ferreria scored in the ninth on a Daylot Mellor single.
Marcus Mastrobuoni stayed hot and went 3-for-4 and Mellor finished with a 2-for-5, two RBI game. Mastrobuoni was 10-for-16 with a .625 batting average in the series. Mellor had five hits and drove in six runs in the four-game set.
As for Baisdon, he entered the game with a 2.73 ERA while opponents batted .155 against him. He leads the team with three saves. He had not allowed an earned run in nine-plus innings of relief work until the ninth inning on Sunday.
