Women's Soccer begins 7th consecutive postseason on Tuesday

The No. 5 seeded Stanislaus State Warriors will begin their quest in the CCAA's first round contest Tuesday afternoon when they take on the No. 4 Cal Poly Pomona Broncos at Kellogg Field.

CCAA Tournament: Third-seeded Cal State San Bernardino is hosting No. 6 Cal State L.A. in San Bernardino at 3 p.m. The winner of this contest, and the winner from Pomona, will converge with regular season champion UC San Diego and No. 2 Sonoma State in Turlock's Warrior Stadium for the semifinals on Friday. The tournament title tilt is Sunday at 3 p.m.

CCAA Women's Soccer Tornament Central

Stan State in the CCAA Tournament: This marks the sixth time since 2010 that the Warriors women qualified for the CCAA conference tournament. The Warriors have participated in this event in all but one (2014) since then … Stan State has been in the CCAA tournament seven times. The Warriors also played in (and hosted) the 2005 event … The Warriors are 6-4-0 in 10 CCAA tournament games and claimed the titles in 2011 and 2013.

Longest Postseason Streak in the CCAA: The Warriors have been in seven consecutive postseasons (including NCAA tournament), the longest current active streak among all conference programs. Stanislaus State has played in every CCAA tournament since 2010, except for 2014 — but that year, the Warriors were invited to play in the NCAA tournament.

Conference Tournament Site: Warrior Stadium serves as the site of the CCAA championship tournament for the sixth time in the last eight years (since the stadium was built in 2009).

Similar to Last Year: Last season, the Warriors opened the CCAA tournament with a first round road contest as well. They beat Cal State L.A., 1-0, in Los Anegles to advance to the semifinals.

Against Cal Poly Pomona: Stanislaus State lost 2-1 back on Oct. 7 in Pomona. The Broncos hold a 13-6-1 in the series … The last time the Warriors won against CPP in Pomona was 2011 … The Warriors did play on Kellogg Field last season in the CCAA Tournament with a win over Chico State before a 3-2 loss in the championship match to UC San Diego … The last time the Warriors and the Broncos met in the postseason was in the 2014 West Region championship match, in Golden, Colo., where the Warriors won 2-0 for the West title.

A Great Second Half: The Warriors qualified for the CCAA Tournament with a strong second half, going 5-1 in the final six matches (dubbed The Second Season). In those five wins, Stan State outscored opponents 11-2 with three shutouts and twice allowed just one goal. The only loss was to UC San Diego, 3-0.

Poon Top Scorer: Through the regular season, Jade Poon ended up as the team leader in scoring with seven goals and five assists for 19 points. She now has 27 career goals (4th on the Stan State top 10) and 66 points (3rd).

Coleman's Final Run: Senior Kirsten Coleman enters the postseason with 28 career goals, which ties her for second on the Warriors' all-time list with Marti Teunissen. Coleman also has 65 points.

About the Broncos: The Broncos went 1-1 to close out the season at home where they were 2-3-3 this year. They were actually 0-2-1 in the last three home matches at Kellogg Field … Sydney Yates leads CPP with five goals and three assists. Ricki Ives has a 1.06 GAA and has played in every minute. She has a .746 saves percentage.
