This Time It Counts
A rare occurrence in the conference schedule, the Warriors are playing just one conference game this week, on the road, at Cal State Dominguez Hills — and unlike the Nov. 19 match-up, this one counts in the CCAA records.
CCAA Openers
Stanislaus State won its last three conference opening games, including a road win at Cal State L.A. to begin the 2014-15 CCAA schedule. In 2013-14, the Warriors defeated Chico State 80-78 at home and beat Cal State San Bernardino, 68-64, also at home in 2015-16 … Prior to this streak, the Warriors had lost five straight conference openers.
Gouveia In Double Digits
Kyle Gouveia has scored in double-digits in all six games thus far. Dating back to the end of the 2015-16 season, he has now scored 10 or more points in 10 consecutive games. In these 10 games, he's tallied 160 points for an average of 16.0 points a game … This season he's averaging 13.5 points per contest. He scored a season-best 20 points on Friday at Notre Dame de Namur.
Good Weekend for Medina
Richard Medina had one of his better weekends, recording three career highs. He tied a career best with seven rebounds and posted a career high with eight assists against Holy Names on Saturday. On Friday, he had a personal best six steals.
Double-Double for Faniel
Vondel Faniel posted his first double-double of the season on Saturday, dominating the paint with 12 points and 11 rebounds. He was 6 of 9 shooting (.667).Â
Another 20 for Mitchell
After being held to five points at Chico and four at Notre Dame de Namur, Kaelen Mitchell returned to form in Saturday's win over Holy Names with 20 points. That's his second 20-point game on the season. He scored 21 versus Academy of Art on Nov. 12. Mitchell has now led the team in scoring in four of six games.
The Same Exact Line-Up
Head coach Larry Reynolds continues to employ the same starting lineup and now has use the same start five in all six games. He's featured Stephen Evans at the point guard with Richard Medina and Kaelen Mitchell as the shooting guard/small forward. The two bigs inside have been Vondel Faniel and Kyle Gouveia.
Against PacWest Teams
The Warriors are now 6-8 in games against Pacific West Conference teams in five seasons, dating back to the start of the 2012 season. So far this year, Stan State is 1-3 and will see another PacWest team, Fresno Pacific, on Dec. 19.

The Warriors did recover on Saturday, going 5-for-8 (62.5 percent) from the arch against Holy Names.
