TURLOCK — The Stanislaus State women's tennis team officially started Spring Break with a victory on Saturday as they defeated a solid Fresno City College club, 9-0, at the Stan State Courts.
The match is part of a six-match stretch during the week of Spring Break and a period when the Warriors are playing seven matches in 11 days.
"This was a great start for the Spring Break. We are looking forward to our trip in Colorado and continue to improve as a team," head coach
Verek Visaraga said.
The Warriors will embark on a three-match roadtrip to Colorado with contests at CSU Pueblo (Tuesday), Colorado College in Colorado Springs (Wednesday) and Metro State in Denver (Thursday). After the trip to less-than spring-like weather in Colorado, Stanislaus will hit the beach at UC Santa Cruz next Saturday before ending up with a match at Academy of Art in San Francisco.
Against Fresno City College, a match that was rescheduled from an earlier rainout, the Warriors swept through all matches with eight of nine contests in straight sets. J'Ana Diamond needed three sets to take down Gonzales, 6-2, 2-6, 10-8.
The other four singles matches all resulted in straight set wins by Stanislaus, including a shutout, 6-0, 6-0 win by
Ebone Qualls over Bianca Muniz.
Lamelle Belgica and
Analyssa Tallas also blanked their opponent at No. 3 doubles play, 8-0.
