After postponing their CCAA home opening weekend due to weather conditions, the Warrior softball team will now be back on the road. This weekend Stan State travels to Sonoma State for a four-game series on Thursday and Friday. Play will begin at noon on both days.

Series Notes: In the past five years the Warriors have only defeated the Seawolves once with a current six-game losing streak. On April 24, 2015 in the second game of the series, Stan State beat the Seawolves 6-3 at home.
Last Season: Last year the Warriors hosted Sonoma State for their last home series of the season. They went 0-4 against the Seawolves and were outscored 28-7.
Outstanding Opening Record: Stan State has began the 2017 season with a 8-2 record. The last time Stan Sate started off so well was in 2009 when the Warriors started the year 8-2 record en route to a NCAA Super Regional tournament berth … In addition to their overall record Stan State went 4-0 in their first CCAA series of the season, which is the first time in Warrior history that the softball team has opened conference play with a series sweep.
Unpredictable Weather: Last weekend was planned to be the host of 16 CCAA softball games spanning from Friday to Sunday in various parts of California. Unpredictable weather conditions across the state caused various conference teams to cancel or postpone contests. Only two games were played (Cal State San Bernardino at Cal State San Marcos) … Stan State's series against Cal State Monterey Bay has been rescheduled for doubleheaders on Tues., Mar. 21, starting at 1 p.m., and Wed., Mar. 22, beginning at noon.
CCAA Strength: The California Collegiate Athletic Association is one of the strongest conferences in the nation for Division II softball. Currently, the CCAA is home to three of the nation's top 15 teams. Humboldt State is the current unanimous No. 1, Chico State is ranked 10th, and UC San Diego is 14th.
About Sonoma State: Currently Sarah Langley leads the Seawolvs offense with a .600 batting average, which has also tied her for the second highest batting average in the CCAA. Langley has also tallied the most hits on the Sonoma State squad, with six hits and four RBI … Brigid Ruiz is Sonoma State's starting pitcher with a 1.00 era. Ruiz has given up seven hits, nine runs, one earned run, and has a 0-2 record … As a team, the Seawolves have a .330 batting average … Sonoma lost to Cal State Monterey Bay in Seaside three times Feb. 11-12.
