For the second consecutive week, the Stanislaus State softball team will be facing a nationally ranked team. This week the Warriors will travel to Chico State for a CCAA series against the No. 6 Wildcats. The series will begin with a doubleheader starting at noon on Friday, and a finish off with a doubleheader starting at 11 a.m. on Saturday.

Series Notes:Â Stan State is 6-16 against Chico State over the past five years. They have earned two of those wins at the Wildcat Softball Field, one of which was in March of 2012 when the Wildcats were ranked third in the nation.

Last Season: Last season the Warriors went 1-3 when hosting Chico State. Stan State won game two of the series 10-4, which began with a double to left field by
Ruby Quiralte driving in the Warriors first two runs. Stan State scored seven more runs in the second inning alone, starting with a single by
Nicolette Vizcaino which earned her two RBI. Â

Defeating the Lumberjacks: Last weekend the Warriors hosted the No. 1 Division II softball team in the nation, Humboldt State. With a 6-2 win to start off day two, Stan State is now able to say they ended the Lumberjacks winning streak, costing them their first loss of the season and their spotless record … Saturday's victory was the second time this season that the Warriors have taken down a ranked team. Earlier this year Stan State defeated No. 18 California Baptist 3-2 at the Desert Stinger tournament in Las Vegas.

Dynamic Duo: In the upsetting victory over the Lumberjacks, two Warriors were responsible for batting in all six runs.
Cassidy Duke earned two RBI with singles in the first and sixth innings.
Ruby Quiralte hit a homer in inning one to earn her first two RBI, and singled in the sixth to drive in the last two runs of the game.

Maintaining Conference Caliber: Even after suffering six losses in the last two series, the Warriors still hold six top three placements in CCAA statistics. Their honors include
Alexus Martinez's tie for first place in the conference with 19 hits, and her lead with 48 at bats.
Ruby Quiralte is a CCAA leader with 15 RBI, and
Nicolette Vizcaino ties for second with 15 runs scored in just three weeks of play.
About Chico State: Cailin Garmon leads the Wildcats with a .486 batting average. Garmon is 17-for-35 with two RBI. Ari Marsh has batted in the most runs for the Wildcats (16) going 19-for-43 with a batting average of .442, and hitting one double, three triples, and one home run … As a team the Wildcats have a .343 collective batting average … Haley Gilham is the starting pitcher for Chico state with a 0.61 era, and a 7-0 winning streak. Gilham has given up four earned runs in 46 innings, has walked six batters and struck out 36. Â
