Stan State heads into its final series of the season, hosting UCSD

This Friday and Saturday the Stan State softball team will take their place on the Warrior Softball Field for the last time this season. Hosting UC San Diego, the Warriors will begin the series at 2:30 p.m. in Friday. After honoring Stan State's four seniors, the Warriors will play another doubleheader starting at 11 a.m. on Saturday.

Series Notes: The Warriors are 24-47 against UC San Diego since 2001, last defeating them 6-1 in February of 2015. Stan State is currently on a seven-game losing streak against the Tritons.
 
Last Year: Last season Stan State traveled to UC San Diego for its first CCAA series of the season. They went 0-4 against the Tritons, losing games one and three in five innings, and taking game two into an extra inning before losing 4-5. 
 
STEALING THE RECORD: Nicolette Vizcaino is only two stolen bases away from stealing the Stan State single season stolen base record. Vizcaino is currently 35-for-35, only one away from tying the record of 36 stolen bases. She is also the second Warrior in Stan State history to have a 1.000 stolen base percentage in a single season. Vizcaino is third on the Warriors' top ten list for stolen base attempts, and third in her career with 72 stolen bases over the past four years. 
 
Warrior SENIORS: Saturday morning Stan State will honor its four seniors who have loyally stuck with the program for four years, before they take their place on the Warrior Softball Field for the last time. Cassidy Duke, Nicolette Vizcaino, Morgan Balestreri, and Deenah San Luis came to Stan State in 2014, and have each had great careers since joining the program. Combined, the four seniors have tallied 549 hits, 323 runs, and 188 RBI. A short ceremony to honor the four seniors will take place before the first pitch on Saturday.

About UC San Diego: Kelsi Maday is the top Triton at the plate with a .392 batting average. She is 55-for-140 with 40 runs, and leads her team with 33 RBI. She is currently leading the conference with 31 stolen bases, and falls in second with a .404 conference batting average … Lauren Brown is the Tritons' starting pitcher with a 3.08 ERA. She is 10-9 in the circle and has given up 58 earned runs in 132 innings.
