Warriors open CCAA schedule at home against Cal State East Bay

This week the Warrior softball team will start the CCAA season at home. Stan State will host Cal State East Bay for two doubleheaders on Friday and Saturday.

Series Notes: The Warriors are 20-16 against Cal State East Bay since 1999. The Pioneers swept Stan State last season in Hayward after the Warriors won the series 4-0 in 2016.
 
Grand Slam: Last Friday night against Holy Names, freshman Aliyah Garvin made an excellent debut at the Warrior field hitting a grand slam on her third at-bat. Garvin's four-run homer caused the eight-run rule to take effect, concluding the game in just five innings as the Warriors went on to win 9-1.
 
Other Warrior Accomplishments: Freshman Maya Yoshiura had a great first weekend at the Warrior Softball Field, going 2-for-3 and earning four RBI. She hit a sacrifice fly against Academy of Art to send Kaitlyn Doyle home to score the Warriors' final run. Against Holy Names Yoshiura hit two RBI singles for Stan State … Both Bryanna Menor and Alanah Laupua-Vanisi hit doubles last weekend, and Katelyn McDonald had a sacrifice fly against HNU for an RBI.
 
Preseason Poll: In the 2018 CCAA preseason coaches poll Stanislaus State was predicted to finish in eighth place.
