Warriors prepare for busy week as they host the Tournament of Champions

Coming up this week the Warrior softball team will be busy as 26 teams from around the West Region will convene in Turlock for the annual Tournament of Champions.

Warriors vs. Simon Fraser (11-4, 8-4 GNAC), Turlock, Calif., 2 p.m.
Warriors vs. Concordia Irvine (15-6, 8-4 PacWest), Turlock, Calif. 6 p.m.
 
Sunday
Warriors vs. Concordia Portland (13-12, 3-5 GNAC), Turlock, Calif., 3 p.m.

About the Tournament: This weekend the Warriors will host the 17th annual Tournament of Champions sponsored by the City of Turlock. 26 teams from the California Collegiate Athletic Association, the Pacific West Conference, and The Great Northwest Athletic Conference will join Stan State for the 79-game tournament. The Tournament will span over three days and will be played at three different sites within Turlock (Warrior Softball Field, Pedretti Sports Complex, and Turlock Sports Complex). From Friday to Sunday Stan State will personally take on Western Oregon, Montana State Billings, Simon Fraser, Concordia Irvine, and Concordia Portland.  
 
Homers: Last weekend against Cal State San Bernardino Stan State hit home runs on both Friday and Saturday. During the Warriors 11-9 victory on Friday, Ruby Quiralte hit a two-run homer to solidify Stan State's win. The following day Bryanna Menor hit a home run out of center field to score the Warrior's only run of the game.
 
About Western Oregon: Ryanne Huffman leads Western Oregon with a .413 batting average and both Mariah Deleon and Zoe Clark lead with 14 RBI. The Wolves have tallied 17 home runs as a team this season and hit .303 as a team.
 
About Montana State Billings: Leading MSUB's offense with Tracy Heather with a .517 batting average. She is 46-for-89 with two doubles, one triple, five home runs, and 20 RBI. As a team Montana hits .315 at the plate.
 
About Simon Fraser: Taylor Lundrigan leads Simon Fraser with a .404 batting average, a .596 slugging percentage, 21 hits, 12 RBI, and eight doubes.
 
About Concordia Irvine: With a .382 batting average Ryann Ferguson leads the Eagles at the plate. Ferguson is 29-for-76 with four doubles and five home runs, and is second behind Kailey Palazzolo (18 RBI) with 17 RBI.  As a team Concordia hits .318.
 
About Concordia Portland: Macy Besuyen lead the Cavaliers with a .397 batting average and 29 hits. She has hit four doubles and four triple, and has earned 10 RBI. Elena Cook leads with 17 RBI and Concordia's leading pitcher is Mckenzie Smith with a 2.79 era. As a team the Cavaliers bat .285 at the plate.
