Warriors Finished in 18th Place at the 2022 NCAA Division II National Cross Country Championsihips

Kaela Dishion Becomes Stan State’s Third Cross Country All-American as Warriors Place 18th at Nationals

UNIVERSITY PLACE, Wash..---  Stan State's Kaela Dishion earned NCAA Division II All-American honors as she finished in 34th place to lead the way for the Warriors to a 18th place team finish at the 2022 NCAA Division II National Women's Cross Country Championships at Chambers Creek Regional Park in University Place, Washington.  Dishion ran a 21:16.5 in the 6K race to become Stan State's third All-American in women's cross country and first since Carrie Luis' 15th place finish in 1994. 

0THIRD ALL-AMERICAN:  Kaela Dishion became Stan State's third All-American as she finished in the top 40 in this year's NCAA Division II National Women's Cross Country Championships.  Dishion ran a 21:16.5 to lead the way for the Warriors.  Dishion is the first All-American at Stan State since 1994 when Carrie Luis finished in 15th place.  Susan Carey was the Warriors' first All-American with her 25th place finish in 1990.

WARRIORS TOP FIVE:  After Kaela Dishion's 34th place finish time of 21:16.5, Najwa Chouati was the Stan State harrier to cross the finish line with her 54th-place time of 21:321. Kayden Legan ran a 22:30.2 to finish in 136th place followed by Yahaira Zuniga in 138th place with a time of 22:32.0.  Haleigh Humble was the next Warrior finisher with her time of 22:54.4 which placed her 174thBela Moreno finished in 224th (23:51.7) and Katarina Borchin was 245th (24:27.5).

0TEAM RESULTS:  Adams State were the 2022 NCAA Division II Women's Cross Country National Champions with 75 points.  The Grizzlies had four of the top 25 finishers at the nationals paced by Stephanie Cotter who won the nationals with a time of 19:45.2.  Rounding out the top five were Grand Valley State (126), Colorado School of Mines (164), University of Colorado-Colorado Springs (184) and Augustana University (218).   

Stan State finished in 18th place with 457 points. Last year, the Warriors finished in 12th place with 447 points led by Kaela Dishion's 43rd place time of 21:35.4 at the nationals last year in Florida.  That was the Warriors' highest finish at nationals since 2012 when they finish in 20th place.
