TURLOCK, Calif.--- Stan State will begin a nine-game home stand this Tuesday, February 14 when the Warriors host Menlo College non-conference game with first pitch scheduled for 5pm at Warrior Baseball Field. Later this week, Stan State will host Central Washington in back-to-back starting non-conference 1pm doubleheaders on Friday, February 17 and 18.
RECAP OF LAST WEEK: The Warriors split their four-game series with Holy Names this weekend. On Friday in their home opener, the Warriors took game one 10-4 but lost the night cap 7-4. Stan State came back on Saturday in Alameda and won the opener 14-4 but lost the night cap 3-2.
The Warrior pitching staff had a 3.48 earned run average in the four games with 28 strikeouts in 33.2 innings.
Maxwell Pappas and
Casey Carr picked up the two wins for Stan State. Pappas pitched five innings, giving up two hits and two runs while striking out six and walking one in Friday's 10-4 victory. Carr pitched five innings, giving up six hits and four runs (three earned) while striking out one and walking three in Saturday's 14-4 victory.
Austin Balentine recorded a four inning save on Saturday by pitching four scoreless innings of relief of Carr, giving up one hit, striking out four and walking two.
Stan State had four players hit over .350 for the weekend in
Flavio Perez (.533),
Ryan Leonesio (.375),
Tyler Van Dyk (.364) and
JD Madrigal (.357). Perez drove in a team leading ten runs while scoring four runs. He posted a .867 slugging percentage with a .500 on-base percentage.
Kyle Rachels and Perez each had two doubles for Stan State and Leonesio and Madrigal each had a triple. Van Dyk hit a grand slam home run in the Warriors' 14-4 victory on Saturday and Perez had a solo home run in Friday's 7-4 loss. The Warriors went five-for-six in stolen base attempts with Rachels along with
Jonluke Goldman,
Mac Cabero,
Jacob Baker and
Luke Davies each stealing a base.
UPDATE ON WARRIORS: Heading into their game with Menlo on Tuesday, the Warriors are 3-2. They are hitting .257 as a team and have a 3.80 earned run average. Four players are hitting over .333 in

Ryan Leonesio (.333).
Perez leads the team with his ten runs batted in, nine hits and .700 slugging percentage. Rachels leads the team with his seven runs scored, .500 on-base percentage and three doubles. He is tied with Perez and Van Dyk each with a home run.
JD Madrigal and Leonesio each have a triple to lead the Warriors.
Jacob Baker has three of the Warriors' nine stolen bases on the year with Rachels with two.
Casey Carr has picked up two of the Warriors' three victories.

UPDATE ON MENLO: The Oaks are 4-6 entering Tuesday's game with Stan State. They are hitting .217 as a team with a 5.20 earned run average. Jaxon Motts leads the way with his .353 batting average and .476 on-base percentage. Erik Quinzon and Anthony Masetti each have a team leading eleven hits. Masetti leads the team with his two home runs and tied with Quinzon and Sean Pettener each with two doubles. Quinzon and Masetti lead Menlo with their four stolen bases. Jonathan Charboneau leads the team with his one triple and Masetti has hit a team leading two home runs.
Four pitchers have recorded a win apiece in Sean Riley, Joshua Spezia, Logan Snow and Tyler Kennedy. Chase Barsottie has two of Menlo's three saves. Brook Moore has struck out a team leading 15 batters in 15 innings with a 1.80 earned run average.
UPDATE ON CENTRAL WASHINGTON: The Wildcats are 1-5 heading into their doubleheader today at Cal State East Bay. They are hitting .238 as a team and have a team earned run average of 7.54. Charlie Larson has hit a team leading .375, with a team high six runs and two stolen bases. Kevin Varner Jr. and Ben Leid leads CWU with his seven hits and four doubles. Five different Wildcats have hit a home run in Larson, Varner Jr., Sam Lauderdale, and Carter Olsen.
Brayde Hiral leads the pitching staff for CWU With his 2.25 earned run average, 12 innings pitched, one victory and six strikeouts. Drew Richardson has posted the Wildcat lone save.
