TURLOCK, Calif.--- Stan State will return to Southern California this weekend for a four-game series in Carson, Calif., against Cal State Dominguez Hills. This weekend's four-game CCAA series will start this Friday, March 17 at 3pm with a single nine-inning game at Toro Field. The series will continue Saturday, March 18 with a noon starting doubleheader (one nine-inning game and one seven-inning game). The two teams will conclude the series with a noon starting single nine-inning game on Sunday, March 19.
LAST WEEKEND: The Warriors went 1-3 over the weekend against No. 5 Cal State San Bernardino. Stan State took the opener 3-2 in ten innings.
Danny Murphy drove home
Mac Cabero with a single for the game-winner in the bottom of the tenth.
Austin Balentine (2-1) pitched 2.1 scoreless innings of relief, giving up one hit and striking out a season high seven batters.
Maxwell Pappas started the game and pitched seven innings, giving up four hits and two runs (one earned) while striking out seven and walking four. The Warriors lost the final three games of the series 7-6, 5-0 (seven innings) and 8-5.
Stan State hit .260 during the four-game series with three home runs (
Mac Cabero,
Tyler Van Dyk and
Alex Solis). Murphy paced the Warriors with his .500 batting average with
Jacob Baker right behind him at .400. Van Dyk drove home four runs and Cabero scored three runs.
Three pitchers had a 0.00 earned run average in at least 1.2 innings pitched in
Anthony Ramirez,
Alex Kendrick and
Caleb Bertoncini. Stan State struck out 39 Yotes' batters led by Balentine's 13 strikeouts and no walks in five innings of work.
WARRIORS IN REVIEW: Stan State enters this weekend's four-game series with the Toros with a 11-11 overall record and a 4-8 CCAA record. The Warriors have a .261 batting average and a 4.87 earned run average as a team. Five Warriors are hitting over .300 in

Anthony Ramirez has three of the Warriors' four saves with Balentine with one.
CCAA LEADERS: The Warriors are in the top six in the CCAA in twelve team statistical categories. They are first in strikeouts (177) and tied for first in saves (four). Stan State is second in stolen bases (27) and doubles (44) while the Warriors are third in hits (158) and tied for third in shutouts (four). The Warriors are fourth in victories (11), runs (116), runs batted in (102) and tied for fourth in home runs (nine). Stan State is fifth with four triples and sixth with a 4.87 earned run average.
CCAA INDIVIDUAL LEADERS: Nine Warriors are in the top ten in the CCAA in several individual statistical categories.
Flavio Perez is tied second in doubles (seven) and hits (27) and tied for fifth in runs batted (22).
Kyle Rachels is tied for eighth in doubles (seven) and fourth in runs scored (17) and tied for fifth in hits (22).
Casey Carr is tied third with his three wins, seventh with 25.2 innings pitched and tied for eighth with 24 strikeouts.
Austin Balentine is fourth with 30 strikeouts, tied for sixth with one save and tenth with 24.1 innings pitched.
Maxwell Pappas is first with 27 innings pitched and seventh with 25 strikeouts.
Tyler Van Dyk is tied for seventh with three home runs and
Jacob Baker is second with nine stolen bases.

TOROS: Cal State Dominguez Hills enters its four-game series with the Warriors with a 10-5 overall record and a 5-0 CCAA record. The Toros only played one of their four scheduled game with Cal State San Marcos last weekend and won that game 9-2. They are hitting .295 as a team and have a 3.91 earned run average. Eric Smelko leads the way with his .540 batting average, three home runs, 34 hits, 27 runs scored, .794 slugging and .603 on-base percentages. He is tied with Vincent Temesvary each with seven doubles. Temesvary has a team leading 22 runs batted in and is one of four Toros with a triple (Aaron Greenfield, Miguel Marin and Eddie Morales). Greenfield leads the team with his five stolen bases.
The Toros pitching staff is led by Zach Geiss' 1.06 earned run average while Nico Martinez is 3-0. Martinez leads the team with his 31 strikeouts and 26.1 innings pitched. Sam Gomez has CSUDH's lone save.
ALL-TIME SERIES: Cal State Dominguez Hills leads the all-time series with the Warriors 65-48 with the two teams splitting last year's series in Turlock, March 4-6, 2022. The Warriors lost game one 11-1 but came back and took the next two games 3-1 and 4-1. They lost the series finale 10-2.
Tony Jacobs picked up the win in the 3-1 victory with six strikeouts.
Damian Vallejos picked up the win in the 4-1 victory and
Noah Chelberg recorded the save.
Jonluke Goldman drove in two runs and
Alex Solis was two-for-three with a run batted in and a run scored.
CCAA STANDINGS: With the inclement weather all across the State of California this Spring, only two teams have played all twelve of their conference games in Stan State and Cal State Monterey Bay. One team in Sonoma State has played just one game this season. The top six teams at the end of the regular season will receive a berth to the 2023 CCAA Baseball Championships, May 10-13, at Cal State Monterey Bay in Seaside, Calif. The winner of the CCAA Tournament will receive the conference's automatic berth to the NCAA Division II Baseball Championship.
