TURLOCK, Calif.--- After going 3-1 in their four-game home series with San Francisco State this weekend, the Stan State Warriors moved up to fourth in the CCAA standings with twelve games left in the regular season. The Warriors return to the diamond this weekend in Pomona, Calif., for a four-game series with Cal Poly Pomona who is one-game ahead of Stan State in third place in the standings. The series will begin this Friday, April 21 with a single game at 1pm. The two teams will play a noon starting doubleheader on Saturday, April 22. The series will conclude with a noon starting game on Sunday, April 23.
LAST TIME: Stan State went 3-1 against San Francisco State this weekend. The Warriors started the series with an 8-2 victory on Friday.
Tony Jacob picked up the win while
Jacob Baker went three-for-three, driving in a run, stealing two bases, and scoring three times. Stan State won the second game of the series 3-1 on Saturday with
Casey Carr picking up his fourth win of the season.
Anthony Ramirez recorded the first of his two saves during the series. Baker had two hits and drove in a run in the win for the hosts. The Warriors lost the night cap on Saturday 5-1 with
Damian Vallejos recording the loss.
Will Crookham recorded the no-decision, pitching four innings, giving up two hits and no runs while striking out two and walking one in the start. Stan State won the series finale on Sunday 4-2.
Maxwell Pappas pitched six scoreless innings in the start, striking out four and walking four and giving up just two hits for his third win of the season. Ramirez recorded his seventh save of the season. Four Warriors had multiple-hit games in
Robert Valdivia,
Flavio Perez,
Alex Solis, and
Kyle Rachels.
Ryan Leonesio scored two of the four runs.
UPDATE ON THE WARRIORS: The Warriors improved to 21-16 overall and 14-13 after their 3-1 weekend with the Gators. Stan State have a team batting average of .268 and a team earned run average of 4.29.

Casey Carr has recorded a team leading four victories followed by Jacob and
Maxwell Pappas each with three. Pappas leads the team with his 39 strikeouts and is one four Warriors with at least thirty strikeouts. The other three are Carr (37), Jacob (35), and

FOURTH PLACE: Heading into this week and with twelve games left in the regular season, Stan State sits in fourth place in the CCAA standings just one game out of third place (Cal Poly Pomona). The Warriors are just percentage points ahead of San Francisco State. The top six teams at the end of the regular season will receive a berth to the CCAA Baseball Championships, May 10-13, at the Otter Sports Complex on the campus of Cal State Monterey Bay in Seaside, Calif. The winner of the CCAA's will receive the conference's automatic berth to the 2023 NCAA Division II Baseball Championships.
CONFERENCE LEADERS: Stan State is in the top six in the CCAA in five team statistical categories. The Warriors lead the conference in sacrifice hits (36) and are second in stolen bases (42). They are fifth in sacrifice flies (13) and sixth in doubles (67) and hits (340). Ten Warriors are amongst the top ten in several individual categories.
Flavio Perez is tied for fifth in doubles and sacrifice flies and seventh in hits.
Casey Carr is eighth in opponent batting average and earned run average and is tied for eighth in victories.
Jacob Baker is tied for first in hit by pitches and second in stolen bases.
Tony Jacob is third in earned run average and fourth in opponents batting average.
Robert Valdivia is second in sacrifice hits and
Danny Murphy is tied for third in the same category while
Tyler Van Dyk is tied for sixth.

The Broncos are hitting .275 as a team and have a 3.97 earned run average. Johnny Pappas leads the team with his .324 batting average and .406 on-base percentage. Brent Cota has a team leading 47 hits and two triples. He is tied with Nin Burns II each with ten doubles while Marco Malerba has hit a team high four home runs. Cota and Burns each are tied for the team lead with 25 runs scored. Malerba leads the team with his 29 runs batted in and .500 slugging percentage. Burns is a perfect ten-for-ten in stolen base attempts. Caleb Reyes leads CPP's pitching staff with his 1.38 earned run average and 5-1 record. He is tied with Rhys Stevens each with 51 strikeouts. Eric Romo has three saves with Reyes and Scott Armstrong each with two.
ALL-TIME SERIES: Cal Poly Pomona leads the all-time series with the Warriors 27-14. The Broncos have taking six of the last eight games from Stan State including three out of four last year in Turlock. They won 9-0, 8-1, and 7-4 before losing 3-1 in the series finale. In the win,
Maxwell Pappas picked up the win pitching seven innings, giving up seven hits and a run while striking out five and walking one.
