TURLOCK, Calif.--- Stan State is 7-3 in its last ten games and have moved into a tie for third place with San Francisco State in the CCAA standings heading into the final eight games of the regular season. The Warriors captured their fifth series of the season by taking three out of four games from Cal Poly Pomona this weekend in Pomona. Stan State returns to the diamond this weekend when the Warriors host Sonoma State in their final home stand of the regular season. The series will begin this Friday, April 28 on BlueChip Broadcasting Sponsorship Night at 6pm. The two teams will continue the series with an 1pm starting doubleheader on Saturday, April 29 on Golden Valley Health Center Day. The series will conclude this Sunday, April 30 at noon on Senior Day. Prior to the game, the five seniors will be recognized in

LAST TIME: The Warriors went 3-1 at Cal Poly Pomona this weekend to take their fifth weekend series of the season. Stan State's pitching staff had a 1.64 earned run average in the 33 innings pitched this weekend. They struck out 16 batters and walked eight while their opponents batted .210 against them.
Casey Carr,
Damian Vallejos, and
Anthony Ramirez picked up the victories for the Warriors while
Caleb Bertoncini recorded the save. Three Warriors hit over .300 in
Mac Cabero (.400),
Tyler Van Dyk (.364), and
Alex Solis (.333). Solis drove in four runs and
Ryan Leonesio scored a team leading five runs. Cabero had two of the Warriors' eight doubles. Stan State went seven-for-seven in stolen base attempts in Cabero (two-for-two), Leonesio (two-for-two),
Alex Solis (one-for-one),
Robert Valdivia (one-for-one), and
Danny Murphy (one-for-one).
UPDATE ON THE WARRIORS: The Warriors improved to 24-17 overall and 17-14 in the CCAA. They are 12-5 on the road and 12-12 at home this season. Stan State's pitchers have an earned run average of 4.04 while the batters have a .265 batting average.
Antony Ramirez leads the Warriors with his 1.74 earned run average and seven saves.
Casey Carr has a team leading five victories with four Warriors each with three victories in Ramirez,
Tony Jacob,
Damian Vallejos, and
Maxwell Pappas. Four Stan State pitchers have recorded at least thirty strikeouts in Pappas (39), Carr (39), Jacob (36), and
Austin Balentine (32).
Six Warrior batters have hit .275 or higher this season in

Robert Valdivia (.277). Perez leads the Warriors with his 12 doubles, 29 runs batted in, 54 hits, and .476 slugging percentage. He is tied with Van Dyk for the team lead in home runs each with four. Perez is also tied for the lead in triples with Cabero,

JD Madrigal. Rachels leads the team with his 31 runs scored and Baker has stolen a team leading 14 bases. Leonesio is a perfect eight-for-eight and Rachels is seven-for-seven in stolen base attempts.

TIED FOR THIRD PLACE: Heading into this week and with eight games left in the regular season, Stan State is tied with San Francisco State for third place in the CCAA regular season standings. The top six teams at the end of the regular season will receive a berth to the CCAA Baseball Championships, May 10-13, at the Otter Sports Complex on the campus of Cal State Monterey Bay in Seaside, Calif. The winner of the CCAA's will receive the conference's automatic berth to the 2023 NCAA Division II Baseball Championships.
CONFERENCE LEADERS: Stan State is in the top six in the CCAA in five team statistical categories. The Warriors lead the conference in sacrifice hits (39) and are second in stolen bases (49). They are fifth in sacrifice flies (14) and sixth in doubles (71) and hits (369). Nine Warriors are amongst the top ten in several individual categories.
Flavio Perez is tied for sixth in doubles, seventh in hits, and eighth in runs batted in while
Kyle Rachels is tied for fifth in walks.
Jacob Baker is first in hit by pitches and second in stolen bases while
Tyler Van Dyk is tied for eighth in walks.
Robert Valdivia and
Danny Murphy are first in a tied for third respectively in sacrifice hits.
Casey Carr is tied for sixth in wins, seventh in earned run average, and eighth in opponents' batting average.
Tony Jacob is second in earned run average and fourth in opponents batting average while
Anthony Ramirez is tied for second in saves.
RANKED NATIONALLY: Three Warriors are in the top thirty-five in the nation in three statistical categories.
Robert Valdivia is seventh in sacrifice hits and seventh in sacrifice hits per game while
Danny Murphy is 29
th in sacrifice hits per game and 32
nd in sacrifice hits.
Anthony Ramirez is 13
th with his seven saves. As a team, the Warriors are eleventh in sacrifice hits and 21
st in earned run average.
UPDATE ON THE SEAWOLVES: Sonoma State is 15-21 overall and 9-19 in the CCAA after going 1-3 against Cal State San Marcos this weekend. The Seawolves are hitting .246 as a team and have a 5.86 earned run average. Mark Hernandez leads the team with his .349 batting average. Christopher Wright has a team leading 35 hits of which eight are doubles and five are home runs to lead the Seawolves. Braeden Holliday leads the team with his 22 runs batted in and Wright has scored a team leading 16 runs. Tanner Fontani leads the team pitching staff with his 3.24 earned run average and 4-3 record. Fontani is tied with Nik Kamages each with 30 strikeouts.
ALL-TIME SERIES: Sonoma State leads the all-time series with the Warriors 71-27. The two teams have split the last eight games. The Seawolves won the series last year in Rohnert Park 3-1 and the Warriors won the series 3-1 in Turlock in 2020. Stan State's win was a 3-1 victory with
Maxwell Pappas pitching a complete game.
