TURLOCK, Calif.-- Stan State will travel to Seaside, Calif., this Wednesday, May 10 to face the Cal State East Bay Pioneers in the Opening Round of the 2023 CCAA Baseball Championships at noon at the Otter Sports Complex on the campus of Cal State Monterey Bay. This will be an elimination game with the winner to either face No. 15 Cal State Monterey Bay at 9:30am or No. 28 Cal State San Bernardino at 1pm on Thursday, May 11. After Wednesday's opening round games, the 2023 CCAA Baseball Championships will be double elimination.
WARRIORS IN REVIEW: Stan State finished the regular season 26-23 overall and 19-20 in the CCAA. The Warriors finished in sixth place in the CCAA. They have a team batting average of .255 and a team earned run average (ERA) of 3.98. Four players are hitting .275 or higher in
Flavio Perez (.315),
Alex Solis (.292),
Mac Cabero (.291), and
Robert Valdivia (.275). Perez leads the team with his 62 hits, 14 doubles, 32 runs batted in, 90 total bases, and .457 slugging percentage.
Jacob Baker is a perfect 17-for-17 in stolen bases to lead Stan State and also leads the team with his 14 hit by pitches.
Kyle Rachels has scored a team leading 33 runs and leads the team with his .389 on-base percentage. Perez and
Tyler Van Dyk each have hit a team leading four home runs. Five Warriors have one triple each in Perez, Baker,
Ryan Leonesio, JD Madrigral and
Mac Cabero.

LAST TIME: The Warriors went 2-2 this weekend at Cal State East Bay in their final four games of the regular season. CSUEB won the opener on Thursday 5-0. The two teams split the doubleheader on Friday with the Warriors taking the opener 5-4 and losing 3-2 in extra innings in the night cap. Stan State took the series finale 3-1. Stan State had a .223 batting average while the Pioneers hit .244. The Warriors had a 2.18 earned run average (ERA) while Cal State East Bay had a 2.06 ERA.
Robert Valdivia and
Mac Cabero hit .357 and .333 respectively to the Warriors' offensive attack. They each had five hits with Valdivia scoring a team high three runs.
Alex Solis drove in four of the Warriors' ten runs.
Jacob Baker was a perfect three-for-three in stolen bases.
Four Warrior pitchers had a 0.00 ERA during the series in

Maxwell Pappas, and
Damian Vallejos. Chelberg and Pappas recorded the Warrior two victories and Ramirez recorded two saves. Stan State struck out 15 Pioneer batters with Chelberg leading the way with five followed by Ramirez with four.

REGIONAL RANKINGS: In last week's NCAA Division II West Regional rankings, Cal State Monterey Bay held the top spot followed by Cal State San Bernardino.
