Stan State Women Take Second at CCAA Championships

FRESNO, Calif. --- The Stan State women's cross country team participated in the California Collegiate Athletics Association (CCAA) Championship in Fresno, California. Out of eleven teams, the Warriors placed second. Three runners finished in the top ten in the women's 6k.
 
WARRIORS OVERALL: Annie Wild lead the way for Stan State, finishing in third with a 21:20.3 time. Jacqueline Sanchez-Silva followed in fifth at 21:38.4, and Crystal Hernandez finished in seventh with a 22:00.7 time. Kayden Legan (17th, 22:33.3), Tessa Vasquez (31st, 23:05.5), Nina Furtado (32nd, 23:07), Sophia Mirelez (33rd, 23:13), Bela Moreno (41st, 23:20.1), Dede Salcedo (44th, 23:30), and Noheli Ron (62nd, 24:27.4) crossed the line for the Warriors as well.

CCAA AWARDS: Wild, Sanchez-Silva, and Hernandez were named to the All-CCAA team for their top fifteen finish. Della Molina from Chico State earned Runner of the Year, while her teammate Hannah Wirth received the Elite 13 Award. Artana Nice of Cal Poly Humboldt was the Freshman of the Year and Constance O'Neal of Sonoma State University claimed Newcomer of the Year.  
 
TEAM SCORES: Stanislaus State came in second with 60 points behind Chico State, who had 43 points. Cal Poly Pomona rounded out the top three with 66 points. Following them was Sonoma State in fourth (122 points), Cal State San Marcos in fifth (127 points), Cal State Monterey Bay in sixth (185 points), Cal State East Bay in seventh (202 points), Cal State San Bernardino in eighth (214 points), Cal Poly Humboldt in ninth (215 points), San Francisco State in tenth (272 points), and Cal State LA in eleventh (336 points).
 
UP NEXT: On November 9th, the NCAA Division II West Regional will take place at Amend Park in Billings, Montana. The men's 10k will begin at 10:00 a.m. MST (9:00 a.m. PST) followed by the women's 6k at 11:15 a.m. MST (10:15 a.m. PST). A link to results will be posted once the event is closer.
